In the Winter 2015/16 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Christy Riopel celebrated our 10 year anniversary with her TOP TEN MUST HAVE TOOLS! Christy picked 10 tools that she felt she could simply NOT live without.
The Punch
Some of the tools in this article that she featured, were everyday basic punches. Punches come in all shapes and in all different sizes. There are so many different varieties on the market today allowing you to punch out shapes from monkeys to Christmas trees. Christy was mostly drawn to basic shapes rather than punches with a more limiting shape. She always had a circle punch and a square punch on hand in her favourite sizes. For this layout Christy used a number of different sizes of circle punches from Stampin’ Up!
It really is amazing all the different things you can do with a circle or squre punch. One of things I really like about Stampin’ Up! punches are how you can store them flat and stack them. They also have an image of the shape right on the front making them even easier to identify in my craft cupboard.
Christy’s Layout
Basic punch art is exactly what is reflected in this gorgeous layout designed by Christy.
The circle punch is an absolute MUST have in your scrapbooking stash and I suggest you have them in many different sizes. Christy punched out circles from Fancy Pants Designs patterned paper and simply glued them here and there. I love how she framed her photo with a heavy hemp cord – this really made the main photo pop. The hemp is glued down using Beacon 3-In-1 Advanced Craft Glue. This glue pretty much holds anything in place and dries clear.
If you do not have a number of circle punches in your stash – I suggest you add them to your shoppping cart! If you do have some, but haven’t used them in awhile, dust them off! They are calling your name.
Happy punching everyone! In loving memory of Christy Riopel – we continue to raise money for the Christy Riopel Art Scholarship. To date – one scholarship has been given through The Boys & Girls club of Calgary. This warms my heart knowing that Christy continues to spread gentle, caring and inspiring love through art in our world. Thank you so much to everyone who donates. We appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.
