Hey Creative Scrapbooker Magazine fans – Katelyn Grosart on the blog today. Fall is in full swing and it’s hard to believe that Christmas is only a few months away. So with Christmas in mind, I decided to create an altered project to hold a fabulous little Christmas gift. To get you in to the holiday spirit, I’ve used the new “Country Kitchen” collection from Carta Bella, some adhesive from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L as well as a few products from Ranger , to create this fabulous All Things with Love Grow Altered Jar.

Make sure to grab your favourite Fall beverage as I share with you below how I created this altered jar at home.

The Country Kitchen Collection from Carta Bella has so many fabulous elements to allow you to layer different images together as well as create a variety of projects with it. To create the medallion for the centre of the altered jar, use elements from both the Ephemera packages as well as some fussy cut images from the variety of the patterned papers included in the collection pack. Before adhering the elements on the round medallion, make sure to ink the edges using Vintage Photo Distress Ink with a Blending Tool from Ranger. When you’re ready to adhere the elements on your round medallion, you’ll want to use the E-Z Runner as well as 3D Foam Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.For the top of the jar, cut a piece of the pink plaid paper that measures 5”x5”. Ink the edges of the paper using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a Blending Tool with Foam from Ranger
To create the band around the jar, layer two patterned paper pieces together making sure that there is a 1/4” difference between the two pieces. Ink the edges of the patterned paper pieces using Vintage Photo Distress Ink with a Blending Tool and foam from Ranger. With the papers inked, adhere the two patterned paper bands together, making sure there is an 1/8” showing on the top and bottom of the wider band using Dodz from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.
To finish off the top of the altered jar, adhere the plaid paper to the top of the jar. With the paper adhered, wrap twine four times around the top of the jar lid. Before making a knot, use one of the ephemera tags and tie it to the top of the jar with the twine. To finish off where the twine is, create a bow at the top of the ephemera piece.
I hope that you’ll have fun making this altered jar at home.
