Hey Creative Scrapbooker Fans! Katelyn Grosart here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog to share with you my Summer themed project. Although we have just officially started the start of Spring, I’m definitely ready for Summer to arrive. The jumping off point for my project was the Wild Whimsy collection from Wild Whisper Designs which combined with some wood elements from Southern Ridge Trading Company, adhesive from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, and ink from Ranger Ink, I was able to create this beautiful Ocean View Scrapbook Layout. You’ll want to grab a cup of your favourite beverage as I share with you how I created my scrapbook layout. When creating my layout, I love to mix the different patterned papers together from the paper pack. By layering the photo onto a variety of cut patterned paper as well as 3×4 and 4×6 cards from the Wild Whimsy collection by Wild Whisper Designs, it creates a variety of interest behind the photo. The photo mat behind the photo, was angled and adhered to the 4×6 card. Before adhering the photo mat to the layout, wrap some twine at the bottom of the photo for some added interest. For adhering the photo mat, I used 3D Foam Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.
When I come across cards that have sayings on them, I love to cut them apart in strips and use them down the sides of my layouts. I found the perfect saying on one of the 3×4 cards from the Wild Whimsy Card Pack from Wild Whisper Designs. After the saying is cut into strips, make sure to ink the edges using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam from Ranger Ink. To compliment the bottom right hand corner of the photo, fussy cut the clam and flowers from the Wild Whimsy Paper Pack by Wild Whisper Designs. Make sure to ink the edges of the images using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam from Ranger Ink. To adhere the saying strips, I used EZ Runner from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. Don’t forget to add some journaling in a area of the layout where desired.
In the top left corner, I fussy cut the mermaid and octopus tentacle from the 3×4 and the 4×6 Wild Whimsy Card Pack by Wild Whisper Designs. Fussy cut the flowers and clams from the Wild Whimsy Patterned Paper Pack by Wild Whisper Designs. Make sure to ink the edges of all the images using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam from Ranger Ink. To add some extra dimension in amongst the flowers, add a couple of Sand Dollars from Southern Ridge Trading Company. To adhere the elements, I used a mix between EZ Runner and 3D Foam Squares by Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog post. I hope that my Ocean View Scrapbook Layout has inspired you to make your own layout at home.
