Multi-Tasking Family Room
Hi Kim,
This is the Family room in our house which we turned into my Scrapbook Room. It is also referred to as the Craft Room, the Cat Cave and the Girl Cave. Thankfully we have a teenage son who has as much computer gear as I have paper so he uses the Rec Room in the basement.
We have moved five times since my hobby started so we’ve designed many scrapbook rooms. When looking for a house it must have craft room space. This room is about 17’ x 10’. There is a lounging area that takes up just over a third of the room just in case my husband or son would like to hang out with me while I’m crafting away, or if a movie gets the best of me and I want to get cozy and watch it from a more comfortable position. The TV is wall-mounted so I can have a movie playing or worse; binge watch Netflix…have you watched How I Met Your Mother, Pretty Little Liars or Bloodline?
Storage and Organization
Much of my storage has been with me since Year 1. The wire racking, which has been configured many different ways over the years, works perfectly for housing all of my cardstock and many different lines of scrapbook paper. Did I mention MANY different lines? I find the clear plastic IRIS scrapbook cases are the best way to protect paper and embellishments but I also use Craft Keepers snap closure envelopes to store ongoing individual projects. They make life easy when travelling to crops. The way I organize most of my collection is by theme; birthday’s, puppy dogs, summer, babies, Christmas, winter, card making etc. Smaller transparent bins hold my alphabet sticky letters, gem stones and ribbons. If I can see it, I will use it…one day; right?
Scrapbooking and Technology
Boy I can remember how excited I was buying the Quickutz Revolution for making titles. Then came the Sizzix Big Shot and after that my Cricut…not just any Cricut but the turquoise and white Cricut. After many years of using the Cricut I graduated to the Silhouette Cameo. That darn Cameo has intrigued me and I plan to try designing with HTV and Rhinestone templates.
Do you see that blank wall above my craft tables? It’s just screaming for some art. Stay tuned for more.

Oh, you have a fireplace in your craft room. Sigh!
