Hello everyone, Kerry Engel here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. I am playing with a gorgeous collection of patterned paper from Paper House Productions called Lake Life. I’m a sucker for anything with an Adirondack chair on it. Paper House Productions “Lake Life” collection has some stunning large image papers and every time I pull out this paper it pulls me back to the lake. The collection is bursting with lake inspired double-sided papers and corresponding stickers.
I’m always drawn to Paper House Productions large image paper, they have such warm and inviting images on their papers. I think this is my third blog post showing how to incorporate this style of paper into your scrapbooking.
The look I created with this layout reminds me of the paper tole that was so popular in the 80s. I want to be clear that I did not get to that much work. I simply took two pieces of the same paper and cut out the deck/chairs on one and then it on top of the same area on the second piece of paper. This gives the dock and chairs a three-dimensional appearance. I used Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam Squares to give my layered pieces more dimension.
I used some of the “Lake Life” collection stickers to build a scene around my deck. Full disclosure, I was struggling with where to place my canoe and my daughter Tatiana came in and said ”cut the canoe in half (duh). So that is exactly what I did and she was right, it looked much better. Sometimes I need reminding that I can cut my embellishments, I don’t need to use them “as-is”.
The rest of this layout came together pretty easy using the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L E-Z Runner.
It took me a few tries to get my title placement correct. Paper House Productions “Sculpted Stickers” come on a clear acetate sheet. I like to cut out the embellishment on the acetate so that I can move them around without fear of anything sticking where it shouldn’t.
To finish off the layout I added my journaling with a Brea Resse Fine Liner Pen. they come in an earthy arrangement of colors – perfect for a lake palette.
One last tip. I often have 2×3 images on my layouts. I use the Project Life App to edit my photos so that I can print 2-2×3 images on one 4×6 print. I’ve had 2 hard drives and a computer crash on me so I’m pretty diligent at getting my photos printed. If I hadn’t printed these photos I wouldn’t have them.
