Creative Scrapbooker's VIP Club

Welcome to another exciting technique filled Tuesday with the Team.  Nicole Wright here sharing how to use a gel plate to enhance your pattern paper for a mixed media vibe.  Using pattern paper as a “base layer” to your next project you can create more depth with paint.  Thus, coordinating your paper and paints to anything you create.  Follow along and see how I created a Mixed Media Floral Wreath.

1 For this technique, I will be using Media Assemblage pattern paper (more info on that at the bottom of this post) and Dina Wakely Media Acrylic Paint by Ranger Ink. Apply paint to the Gel Plate as seen above.  You can brayer the paint to blend or use your finger.  Add texture to the paint with texture combs. 2 Once the paint is blended and textured, lay the paper right over top.  Rub your hand across the paper to allow the paint to adhere.  You can also use a brayer.  Peel the paper back to reveal the transferred paint. 3 But wait… don’t stop there.  Keep adding layers.  After all, this is Mixed Media.  I stamped my Botanic Stamp randomly then cut up this one sheet to create flowers.  Oh yes, I did!  How fun is that.  Once these Tattered Florals were cut, I curled the petals and glued them together.  4 Group your flowers on a wreath and add a sentiment if you like.  I cut “bloom” using scraps leftover from the flowers that were cut.  I managed 4 flowers with the Tattered Floral die. Media Assemblage is my first paper collection with Canadian Company Wild Whisper.  Using various mediums and techniques I created a collection of Mixed Media papers.  Here you can have to look of Mixed Media without the mess or buying all the products.  These designs are created by me and I encourage you to layer over top with paints, inks, powders, stamping, stenciling… unleash your creativity. Check out my blog post where I break down the paper, products and techniques. OK, creators, my time is up.  I hope you enjoyed the Gel Printing technique and it inspires you to layer over your pattern paper.  I love it so much I am willing to cover up my own paper collection to show you how fun it can be.  Now go make a mess!
