Anyone up for a bright summery project today?  Hello friends Nicole Wright here today sharing a detailed tutorial on this Painted Burlap Canvas.  You may have seen this in the current issue of the magazine.  I thought I would share a more detailed tutorial using Dylusions Paints.  These bright acrylic paints add a bold look to any project. Apply Ranger’s Dylusions Paint directly to Super Stock Card Stock using a sponge covering your paper.  I used a baby whip to smear around the Dylusions Paint.  Blot some Tangerine Dream randomly.  Then layer your stencil and using a sponge add Dylusions Paint Fresh Lime.  Repeat this using random colours and stencils for your all your floral die cuts. Yes, you can ink on Burlap with Dylusions Paints.  Add random colours of Dylusions Paints using a sponge.  Layer any stencil you want and use your sponge to ink through your stencil.  Move your…

Nicole Wright here today celebrating Canada’s 151st birthday!  I love Canada even more since today is also my husband’s birthday.  I always make sure he has a “CANADA DAY” theme card.  This year his card is extra special.  The paper used for the Maple Leaf and side red banners are 116 year old paper from his grandfather’s old book.  It’s ok, I have permission. I will be filming the HOW TO for this card with Creative Scrapbooker Magazine in a few days… while I am on vacation.  For now, check out this inspiration and get ready for this quick video. 1. I cut the Sizzix die cut Layered Leaf with the book page paper to create a Maple Leaf.    The side banners are cut with the same book page.  Each book page is inked with Ranger’s Distress Spray Ink Candied Apple.  To get that intensity I sprayed 2 times, drying…

Hey crafty peeps… Nicole Wright here and I get to share this fun tutorial on  Creative Scrapbooker Magazine.  I am thrilled to be a Guest Designer for Ranger with these delicious embossing powders from Wendy Vecchi.  I have to be honest, keeping the background stark white was really hard.  Especially when there are so many yummy Ranger products to create with.  However, I wanted to make these embossing powders POP with color. This is the perfect project to use up your scraps.  This scrap of Super Stock Cardstock is thick enough for the Emboss it Dabber and Potting Soil embossing powder. I die cut the Handwritten Journey “moments” embossed with the Potting Soil embossing powder.  Using the Magentic Platform helps this thinlit die from shifting.Apply Emboss it Dabber to the chipboard cut and apply each color of embossing powder.  Before you heat the embossing powder run your finger along the…

Happy Monday everyone. Nicole Wright here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. Are you excited to make a mess.  I know I am.  This is my first time using Dylusions Paint on a canvas.  I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel here, but maybe you have been thinking of trying these paints.  Or perhaps you haven’t cracked one open in sometime.  Follow along as I learn how to use these paints… and get ready to make a mess!  I am stretching out with these new to me paints and I have to say… what have I been waiting for. I’ll admit I have been intimidated but wow these are amazing. I cut up some make up sponges to apply the paint to the canvas and get your fingers in there!Smearing around with your fingers helps blend and smooth the paint. These paints dry fairly quickly so it’s easy to…

Hands up if you’re ready for spring… I know I am.  Nicole here on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog  and I am ready to see the grass under the blanket of snow.  Until then I have whipped up this easy to create tag celebrating flowers and the return of those singing little birds. I have used one of my favourite new products – Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks from Ranger.  Introducing a new coloring medium to the Dina Wakley Media line. Scribble Sticks are versatile, high quality pigment sticks that sketch like crayons but are water-soluble like watercolor pencils. Create backgrounds and blend color to a transparent shade using water or create bold, opaque designs, scribbles and marks on top of Dina Wakley Acrylic Paints and other mediums. Set includes 12 colors that coordinate with the Dina Wakley Media palette of color. This tag is all about scribbling and having fun.Prepare the…

Hello everyone! Nicole Wright here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine creating a fun Christmas tag. Holiday crafting is in full swing and you may have a Christmas tag or two left to create. Today I am sharing this easy resist background for your next Christmas tag or any paper crafting project.  Plaid is one of my favourite patterns and it’s even more fun to make your own background.  This way you can coordinate any colour you want.   It only takes a few easy steps and a lot of inky fingers. Lets get started. Putting Creative Scrapbooker Super Stock card stock through it’s paces with stenciling, embossing, spraying and inking for this tag.  Start with the clear embossing powder and stencil to create the resist. Heat dry the spray stain and wipe the extra stain off the embossed pattern.  The clear embossing powder creates the resist allowing the white background…

I have fallen in love with the Clearsnap carrot dye mini ink pad! There’s a fun team up this week with Xyron and Clearsnap.  I got a little yummy box of Premium Dye Mini Ink Pads and to my delight there was Carrot and Coal in there.
