Mixed Media is all about trusting the process.  It’s always messy in the middle and we have to let the creativity take over.  Nicole here and I am sooooo excited to play with Prima.  For this tutorial, I am using Finnabair.  This is my first time exploring the textures, shimmer, and detail of these fabulous mediums and paints.  I started by applying some torn book pages with 3D Gloss Gel Transparent making sure to apply an even coat over the paper.  Add a layer with the Offset Dots Clear Stamp using permanent ink, Ranger ink Archival Jet Black. Add a layer of texture with Plaster Paste and mix in a little mint- green Patina Effect Paste to tint your Plaster Paste. Layer the 6×9 Passiflora Stencil and apply the Plaster Paste in an even layer. While the Plaster Paste was drying I cut “trust” with Sizzix XL Typo Lower die.  Adhere…

There’s a new baby joining my family!  Hey crafters, Nicole Wright here and no it’s not me!  My great nephew will be here in a couple months and I needed a card STAT for the baby shower.  Let me set the scene… I need a quick card because I have left it to the last minute.  My Brother Scan N’ Cut2 is perfect for making this quick card in just 15 minutes.  I whipped through the cuts and went straight for the animals.  I mean you can’t go wrong with a giraffe.  I select the cuts and adjust my size to fit my standard card.  Load my scrap paper onto the cut mat… in the middle because it’s sticky there. I cut the words in both patterned paper and black to create a shadow.  Why not… I’m already cutting right.  Then I do the same with the giraffe.  I cut the patterned…

You can really see the texture in the leaf here.  When blending Ranger’s Oxide Ink Ground Espresso right over the embossed leaves you can see all the veining.  Adhere the leaves quick and easy with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Adhesive Dots Large. Hey crafters… have you ever wanted to make your own stencils?  Nicole here on the blog today showing you how I saw a design I liked and then proceed to create stencils of my own.  Brother ScanNCut2 CM650W comes pre-loaded with so many designs for cutting anything you can think of.  I decided to see how cutting a stencil would work with my Mixed Media Art Journal.  I’ll show you what I learned.  I started by loading a small piece of Mylar I had in my scrap bin.  Adhere to the 12x 12 low tack mat and load into the machine.  Select Pattern, select the loaded design and then adjust your size of cut to the size of material you have cut.  I have selected the word Spring and 2 floral designs to cut. You can move your cut anywhere on your cutting mat.  The grid pattern helps you not waste…

What screams Birthday more than that confetti look!  Nicole here and I am sharing this fun stamping technique with a variety of Stampers Anonymous Stamp Sets and Rangers new Alcohol Lift- Ink.  This is an easy stamping technique that will work for any stamped image. I used Stampers Anonymous Crazy Cats and Crazy Things stamps for this quick Birthday Card.  Select an assortment of Ranger Alcohol Inks and Yuppo.  Load the Alcohol Ink Applicator with Alcohol Inks and a couple drops of Blending Solution. Dab the Alcohol Ink randomly around the Yuppo paper.  Use a twisting motion while applying the alcohol ink to the Yuppo.  It takes no time to dry so you can pop it right onto the Stamp Platform. Make sure you position your stamp where you want it and load it on the Stamp Platform.  Use the new Alcohol Lift-Ink to load your stamp.  With the stamp loaded…

Anyone up for a bright summery project today?  Hello friends Nicole Wright here today sharing a detailed tutorial on this Painted Burlap Canvas.  You may have seen this in the current issue of the magazine.  I thought I would share a more detailed tutorial using Dylusions Paints.  These bright acrylic paints add a bold look to any project. Apply Ranger’s Dylusions Paint directly to Super Stock Card Stock using a sponge covering your paper.  I used a baby whip to smear around the Dylusions Paint.  Blot some Tangerine Dream randomly.  Then layer your stencil and using a sponge add Dylusions Paint Fresh Lime.  Repeat this using random colours and stencils for your all your floral die cuts. Yes, you can ink on Burlap with Dylusions Paints.  Add random colours of Dylusions Paints using a sponge.  Layer any stencil you want and use your sponge to ink through your stencil.  Move your…
