Hey Creative Scrapbooker Fans! Katelyn Spencer here for today’s blog post, I’m excited to share a fun and spooky project – Halloween tags perfect for treats and decorations. I’ve created these tags using the Halloween Town Collection from Simply Stated Design, along with adhesive products from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. Grab your favorite fall beverage, and let’s get started!
Supplies
- Simply Stated Design: Halloween Town Quirky Ephemera, Scenes Ephemera, Essentials Ephemera, Sentiments Ephemera, Halloween Town Paper 10
- Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L: 3D Foam Squares, E-Z Runner Grand Permanent Tape
- Miscellaneous: Twine
Step-by-Step Guide
Tag 1: Got Candy?
1. Prepare the Base
To start, cut a 1 ¾” x 2 ¾” piece from the black and gold paper (Halloween Town Paper 10) and a 1 ½” x 2 ¾” piece from the script paper. Sand the edges of both papers for a vintage look.
2. Add Ephemera Use the Halloween Town Essentials Ephemera to select the orange/black tag, tab, and bat. Fussy cut around the bat to remove the white outline, and sand the edges of the tag and tab.
3. Embellish with Focal Pieces
Select the pumpkin book from the Scenes Ephemera and the witch holding a pumpkin from the Quirky Ephemera. Fussy cut each piece, removing the white outlines for a seamless look.
4. Add the Sentiment
From the Sentiments Ephemera, take the “got candy?” text, notching the right side for added detail.
5. Assemble the Tag
Using the E-Z Runner, adhere the black and gold paper 1/8” from the left and ¼” from the bottom of the tag. Place the script paper slightly offset for a layered effect.
6. Final Touches
Use 3D Foam Squares to attach the focal pieces (witch, pumpkin book) and place the bat at the top right corner. Finish by tying twine in a bow at the top of the tag.
Tag 2: October 31st
1. Prepare the Background
Cut a 1 5/8” x 2 ¾” piece from the black and gold paper and a 1 7/8” x 3” piece from the orange paper. Sand the edges for a distressed finish.
2. Add Ephemera and Details
Select the orange/blue cracked tag, two tabs, and a bat from the Essentials Ephemera. Fussy cut around the bat and sand the tag edges.
3. Place the Focal Point
Choose the crazy bird from the Quirky Ephemera and the house with pumpkins from the Scenes Ephemera. Cut out each piece carefully, removing any white borders.
4. Attach the Sentiment
Take the “October 31st” sentiment and notch both ends for an eye-catching finish.
5. Layer and Assemble
Layer the elements using E-Z Runner and 3D Foam Squares to add dimension. Arrange the house and bird ephemera with the sentiment placed at the bottom.
6. Finish the Tag
Complete with a twine bow tied through the hole at the top for a charming finish.
Here are some close up shots of the finished tags. Thank you for following along! I hope these Halloween tags bring a touch of spooky fun to your seasonal projects.
