What an absolute treat it was to have Els Van de Burgt from Elizabeth Craft Designs on our web show Technique Tasters #113 – Creating Backgrounds for Cards. Els is the owner of Elizabeth Craft Designs and has been creating, teaching and spreading the love of paper crafts for years. On today’s show Els pulled out a number of her very own products including cardstock, dies, stamps and adhesives. Along with Tim Holtz for Ranger oxide inks and Sakura Pigma Micron PN pens to create this beautiful card. Oxide Ink Effect The cool oxide water effect you see in the background is all the rage right now. It looks rather intimidating, however, as you watch the video you will discover that it is really rather simple to create and fool proof! The other cool fact about this technique is that NO two creations look the same. Products Used To create…

I will never forget how excited Christy Riopel was for her very first Art Show. For weeks she created canvases filled with her fun loving mixed media style. So many of the techniques she practiced and taught in her art journals showed up on her one of kind canvases. I smile when I think of her creating in her studio. My daughter and I drove all the way to Calgary (a five hour drive) to attend. I am so grateful that I did. She didn’t know I was coming – the look on her face was PRICELESS when she saw me walk in.  From elephants to pandas to ballet slippers her booth was filled with her beautiful creations.  I had a very hard time deciding what to purchase. After a few cups of coffee I decided on a HUGE mixed media canvas of an elephant. This beautiful piece will forever…

Hello everyone Kerry Engel here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. We had a lot of celebrating going on in my family this year. Our oldest daughter has graduated from the University of Alberta. Creative Memories Cap and Gown Collection provides a lot of inspiration for layouts and cards. This collection also has a coordinating album – which I love.  Super quick and super easy.  In this layout I used the Variety Mat Pack to create a faux pocket page.  The only additional item I used was Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Creative Photo corners.  I adhered stickers on cardstock and fussy cut out the stickers and mounted them on foam squares to create some dimension.  You did it card I like the challenge of trying to create fun cards from Variety Mat Packs and stickers. I layered the 4×6 card on the 4.5×6.5 card and used stickers, Scrapbook Adhesives…

As I was visiting some of my favourite blogs today I stumbled across this beautiful  post on the Graphic 45 blog by Marina BlauKitchen.  Marina created 4 diaries featuring a variety of collections of products from Graphic 45. She then created a holder to display the albums on a shelf or cupboard. Mix the Old with the New There are so many things that I love about this project that I could go on for days…however…one of things I am most loving is that she used a variety of different collections. As paper crafters we often think we need to stick to one theme or one group of products that were meant to go together. In this project Marnia has mixed together older lines from Graphic 45 with their newer releases. AWESOME. Beautifully Photographed Projects Marina has included a number of beautiful photos of her projects along with the coordinating…

THREE uniquely different scrapbookers were given the exact SAME product from MultiCraft and asked to create a project. This is one of my MOST FAVOURITE challenges! We invited Lee-Ann Thornton, Kerry Engel and Tracy McLennon to create a project using the exact same products from the MultiCraft Forever In Time collection. The results are SOOO much fun. Here is the products all three designers were given…Here are their creations Lee-Ann Thornton – Girl Power Kerry Engel – Fabulous Tracy McLennon – Beautiful So neat to see what the artists have grabbed from the collection of MultiCraft products, what they used for their focus on their layouts, that they all three decided to do 12X12 layouts (there were no instructions or limitations given on what they should create) and the colours they were drawn to. I think it is safe to say all three of these designers loved the flower die cut…
