Over the years we have shared so many wonderful memories with Christy Riopel whether it be scrapbooking, touring a city, giggling over a tasty meal or simply enjoying the love we all share of ART.  Of all these memories I am most grateful for our TV Show – Technique Tasters that we filmed together in Calgary. After a few years of doing the show we finally convinced Christy to join us and share her creative soul with our online community. I am so glad she said YES! In a very short time we filmed SIX shows – and had soooo many more planned for the future. We have – forever – in our memory boxes these videos of her laughing, creating and teaching us. Hello everyone, Karen Ellis here. Happy 150th Canada and…   Happy 4th to all our American Friends! On May 21 I had the privilege of hosting a CSMLIVE on Facebook.  During that live Broadcast I demonstrated how to create a Canadian flag monoprint using Gel Press Printing Plates and ArtFoamies Stamps.  It was so much fun to do and I’m so happy that so many of you watched! If you missed the broadcast, click here to view: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61i1BmIp6Pk&t=1s During the broadcast I mentioned I would be posting another project inspired by the same technique.   Yes!  You can use the printing plates on all kinds of surfaces – not just paper! Here is a fun Cloth Tote I made by monoprinting with the plates and stamps.   I prepared the Gel Press 5×7 Plate the same way as in the video BUT… instead of pressing the cloth into the plate, I mounted the plate onto…

With so many amazing products to play with from the Stampin’ Up! annual catalogue, it was difficult to decide what stamp set I wanted to show you this month.  However, after months of grey skies seeing the sun streaming through my window was the inspiration I needed.  Heck, even seeing the yellow weeds (Ahem. Dandelions) growing in my front yard was a welcome sight. Of couurse, I’d much rather see daisies. Stampin’ Up! has released a daisy stamp set and co-ordinating punch.  It makes it unbelievably easy to make a gorgeous flower bouquet at the tips of your fingers!I’ve created this card and favour box using my water colouring techniques of crushed curry refill ink and an aqua painter.  It’s so easy that you don’t even have to go inside the lines while colouring.  To create this look, I used water colour paper and heat embossed the daisy stamp using…

So you have been seeing the company Gel Press on our blog and various social medias over the past few months. For those of you that know Gel Press – YAHOOOOO – for those of you who don’t – this blog post is for you. What is Gel Press? Gel Press is a company that produces a variety of products with the focus being their Reusable Gel printing plate. AND it is exactly what it says….a gel like plate that is kinda squishy. LOL! How do you use it? 1. Apply paint or texture paste to the plate using a brayer. 2. Add texture lines or drawings, stamp images, or use stencils. 3. Next you simple rub a piece of paper onto your plate and pull back the design! This design is called a monoprint! What do you use the monoprints you have created for? Everywhere you would normally use patterned…

Hello everyone – Kerry Engel here! With the start of a new month – brings us our monthly sketch challenge. Here is July’s sketch… Six photos on one page! This is a great layout for telling a visual story. Clustering the pics tightly on the left and keeping the right side empty balances the design. Succulent Summer LayoutMy daughter and I have a lot of succulents. The Simple Stories Summer Days Collection was perfect for our springtime ritual. I created the “succulent” title and white border (based on the sketch) on my cutting system. I filled in the flowers with different papers from the collection. I stained the title and edged things with green Clearsnap ColorBox ink to finish it off. Supplies: Simple Stories Summer Days collection, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Clearsnap ColorBox ink. Art Journal PageThis page is just layers and layers of Ranger oxide inks. I colored the cut…
