Finding “Your” Happy Place – by Cathie Allan A few weeks ago I posted a few photos on Instagram showing a project that I was working on. I had some “brand new” stencils and stamps from Magenta and I just could not wait to dive into a project. Not knowing what it should be … “Que sera sera” (if you don’t remember this song, you are younger than me, lol), I simply began playing in my art journal book. The products I used are shown in the following photo. Of course I was using my trusty pigment inkpads from Clearsnap and I threw in some stamping with white acrylic paint to get added texture. The project of course grew from what I shared on Instagram and it is now one of my projects that makes my “stampy, stencilly, inky heart” smile. Hoping for spring! Materials: Magenta Stamps and cork sticker, Liquitex Gel Medium, book paper, Clearsnap inks, Canuck Crafts Spectrum Noir coloured pencils, Charcoal pencil I did this little art journal page to give myself a little bit of spring. I don’t think I am the only person who is ready for birds singing and sun shining! I started by using matt gel medium to attach these images over my background. I really like colouring over the gel medium with these Spectrum Noir pencils. They are so smooth and silky and blend beautifully. Happy Spring! Nothing is more exciting than new markers!!! I feel like a little kid. Canuck Crafts Spectrum Noir Markers has improved and revamped their alcohol markers. I love the little rubber grips and the bigger ink reservoir…. Yet they are still very reasonably priced. I used these markers to create this great background for my art journal page. I have to confess that I have never taken any formal training in colouring with alcohol markers… I will share my hack way of colouring. 1. I started by stamping this poppy from Stampendous in black Memento ink. 2. I choose 3-5 colours that are in a similar family…from a very light to very dark.
