Sizzix Frameworks Lattice Die Also featuring Garden Tool Sizzlits, Lil Monsters  by Bo Bunny and Xyron Have you seen the new Frameworks dies from Sizzix?   Designed by Tim Holtz, they were just released last month in five fabulous patterns.  I am especially excited that they are the thick steel rule dies, meaning that in addition to cutting through paper,  they can also easily cut through all fabric, foam, felt, wood veneer and other non-paper items, giving the frugal or mixed media scrapbooker lots of flexibility!   And you can use the framework die cut itself, or the pieces cut out of the framework die (like the diamonds or hexagons) to mix and match. The Lattice Frameworks reminded  of gardening, so I thought I would combine it with the Garden Tools Sizzlits that I had in my stash. I cut the tools out of a scrap piece of cardstock and then used…

Hi everyone! Jodi Wilton here today to show a quick celebration card using Core’dintations  ColorCore Cardstock and Sizzix Dies.  I love having birthday cards at hand, and by combining the fun bright colours of Spotted by Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock and the fun ice cream die by Sizzix- a fun and fast card can be created!  Here is the card that I came up with: The card base was also Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock and then added two  layers  of patterned paper (Carta Bella).  I sewed around each piece of patterned paper for extra detail. Finally I cut out the ice cream pieces and the banner. I added some distress ink in a similar colour to each of the pieces to really bring out the spots on the cardstock.  Finally I used Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L foam squares to give the ice cream some dimension.   Here is another look: Supplies: Core’dinations ColorCore…

Desiree Saskiw here! I must admit that I had taken a stamping hiatus for some time, but this fun Magenta “Savvy Symbols” stamp set inspired me to pull of the ink and embossing powders and get to work! I have always been drawn to using circles as part of my paper creations so this birthday card was no exception. I enjoyed the contrast that was created between the use soft lines in the circles and hearts, with the straight lines of the arrows. The number stamps were a fun addition; counting up to the Happy 10th birthday for my niece Jaeanna! SUPPLIES: Magenta stamps, Clearsnap ink, DCWV patterned paper, May Arts Ribbon, Stampin’ Up! embossing powder, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D foam squares and tape runner. Happy Stamping

Hello everyone from Kim Gowdy! Here is a quick post here to highlight to lovely Pincushion paper line by Bo Bunny. For this layout I used four different patterned papers from their collection as well as the chipboard die cuts and stickers. It was the perfect paper to use for this layout of my Mom; an avid quilter! The overlay of the sewing tools was cut using the new Brother ScanNCut. This is not an image in the library of the cutting machine. I found this free SVG file on line and used the free online, Canvas software to upload and convert to a file the ScanNCut could use. The whole process was quite simple. I embossed the overlay with a rough, weathered type of embossing powder [I forget who makes it as I dump my embossing powders into plastic containers for ease of use]. For a fun touch I…

Every great scrapbook layout and card needs a solid foundation, and that is where Core’dinations™ card stock comes in.  Their booth at CHA was jam-packed with tons of card stock possibilities and more! Their sign says it all… I was VERY excited about their “Chalk Core” card stock.  There are 2 options: black exterior and white core, or black exterior and different coloured cores.  SO COOL! There are 5 colour options: Red, Yellow, Blue, Green and Orange. They come in smaller folded card sizes too! So when you emboss and/or sand to expose the core, you achieve that fun chalkboard effect… Totally love the distressed style you can create with Core’dinations Colorcore card stock! Also on display was designer David Tutera’s “Celebrate” card making system: These sets incorporate 3 steps for card design: 1. Select a card  2. Add a layer  3. Embellish  How easy is this? And just look…

Last summer, I first attended CHA in Las Vegas and was astonished by the Sizzix booth….the displays, the projects…so much eye candy! This winter tradeshow was the same experience with Sizzix showcasing an incredible and vast assortment of products and crafts. The really cool thing about the Sizzix displays are how artfully the products (dies) are staged with craft projects and overall decor. The new Tim Holtz Alterations dies are wonderful to behold, with a combination of die cutting and embossing paper crafts… There are also an assortment of new border dies and project samples that feature them… …along with the new Bigz dies. That is only the Tim Holtz line! There are wonderful other collections by their other designers.  “Susan’s Garden” is an entire line of dies designed to recreate perfect and realistic 3D flowers.  I had a nice…

Hello everyone! It’s Kelly here and I’m so excited to share the wonderful experience the Canadian Scrapbooker team had at last weekend’s Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) tradeshow in Anaheim, California.  Let me tell you, so many companies have new products and collections that will make you a very happy crafter!  I will be blogging here daily for the next week to give you an inside look at the booths and projects that impressed our team. By Connie Nichol with Fancy Pants Designs, May Arts ribbon, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and Beacon Adhesive Supplies:  Bazzill Basics Paper cardstock, Fancy Pants Designs patterned paper, stickers and wood title, May Arts ribbon, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L  and Beacon Adhesive. I love pretty much all products by Fancy Pants Designs but the Collecting Moments  line  released in the summer of 2013 is one of my favourites.   I find that the colours and patterns are perfect for all sorts of projects – girl layouts, boy layouts, cards – you name it.  Here’s a layout I did featuring some silly selfie photos I took with my friends Kim and Jackie on a recent trip to Nova Scotia.  When I look at these pictures, I am instantly transported back to Mavillette Beach and the feeling of that wind!!!  I used May Arts Ribbon natural burlap string to mimic the energy of the wind…
