Today on our blog, Kerry Engel is sharing some wonderful projects and techniques using Magenta Nuance Powders. I’m one of those lettering people. Always playing with pens, practicing my down strokes, experimenting with different mediums. I’ve been playing with Nuance Powders since Christy Riopel introduced me to them at the Canadian Scrapbook Carnival in Edmonton last September. It’s a little embarrassing how happy the Nuance Powders make me. There are many ways to use the Nuance powders. Lately, I’m enjoying the unpredictable magic of tapping them onto pre-watered areas. It reminds me of the invisible messages we used to create with lemon juice when I was a kid. I’m using watercolour paper by Canson, cut to 4×6 size, Nuance ink and water. That’s it! 1. Choose a harmonious color family of ink. I used three colors. Poke a hole in the lids of your powders so that you can…

The FabScraps booth is always so beautiful because the paper collections have a dreamy and pretty shabby chic style. There are 3 new fabulous collections: Vintage Elegance, Beach Bliss and Kaleidoscope. As its name suggest, the Vintage Elegance collection is all soft florals, pinstripes, and patterns with muted colour tones, reminiscent of timeless, vintage wallpaper. Each collection has coordinated chipboard elements, metal charms and stickers. Beach Bliss has gorgeous beach and nautical theme patterned paper, with a subtle weathered wood background image. Ahoy there matey! Β Check out those big chipboard elements….the lighthouse and captain’s wheel! The youthfulness of the Kaleidoscope collection is derived from its energetic colours and geometric patterns. Cardmakers will be happy to hear about a new product addition called the ‘Carders Pack’ for each collection, which is an 8 x 8 package of 4 different paper designs, plus die cut…
Oh Tombow! How do we love thee? Β Let us count the ways! It was a party in the Tombow booth, lots of colour and LOTS of gorgeous products! Hello, Connie Nichol here today. Β I am so super impressed with the Stampin’ Up! Tin of Cards Project Kit – if you have not seen this and need some gorgeous handmade cards without much fuss, this is perfect! Β It also makes the best present!! I had a bit of free time yesterday so I sat down with a cup of tea and unpacked the Tin of Cards Project kit, not really sure what to expect. Β Within an hour, I had made sixteen beautiful cards that came with envelopes and a lovely tin to store everything in. Β Here are some of them…. The kit comes with 16 card bases and envelopes, assorted die cuts, papers stickers and other embellishments, file tab dividers and instructions Β (if you feel like following instructions, that is). Β I loved that there were also some German and French sentiments in the tin; Β perfect for some of my…
Entering the Heartfelt Creations booth at CHA is like walking into a flower garden! The newest release is “Sugar Hollow” featuring the cutest little owl. As per other Heartfelt Creations collections, Sugar Hollow products include paper packs, stamps and die sets. The projects on display for Sugar Hollow were so sweet. There was a sneak peek of the new upcoming February release called Sunrise Lily. Stunning! There were so many gorgeous projects from various collections, including the current popular line “Coffee Talk.” The “All Glammed Up” collection looks fabulous on display. Every shelf in the booth was filled with stunning paper crafts created with both current and older collections. Walking into the Sizzix booth, my heart pounds with excitement…the displays always impress! Although Sizzix is branching out into the fabric industry, the focus is paper crafting. Along with embossing folders, Sizzix is probably most well-known for dies and die cutting. The Tim Holtz “Alterations” line is still very popular. There is a new Vagabond 2, the electronic version of a Big Shot. Accompanying the Vagabond 2 are new tools and products, even storage cases for embossing folders and dies. The Big Shot has a new friend! A storage caddy! It fits on the side and attaches to the Big Shot. We all like to stay organized and this caddy will surely help! Sizzix has also released patterned paper pads that fit perfectly through the Big Shot and Vagabond without cutting down to size. Cutting pads are now in 4 different colours…so you can’t lose them on your studio desk…
Day 2 of our CHA Review brings us into the Elizabeth Craft Designs booth.Β And you are going to “DIE” when you see all these wonderful products! (Hint:Β Die Cutting Dreams Ahead!) Looking at the “Susan’s Garden” collection of dies is like stepping into a beautiful real life garden of projects. There are varying die sets that make varying dimensions of so many flowers. I had the pleasure of meeting Susan Tierney-Cockburn, the creative mind behind the stunning floral dies. Did you know about the tiny ladybug that is found in all of Susan’s designs? Karen Burniston is another incredibly talented designer who has a line of well-known 3D interactive die sets. Her Engineering background has produced the fun die sets called “Pop It Ups.” One theme is “Hot Air Balloons.” Jinks the monkey is new and oh so cute, with a coordinating bananas embossing folder! Baker the Beaver is…
