Love You More – with Karen Ellis
Happy Tuesday everyone!
I thought that I would share what I’ve been playing with at the studio lately FOILS! Yes, Foils! I’m loving this trend right now. A little bit of shine and a whole lot of fun! Although, I will admit I’ve had to play around with it’s application but, now I’m in a groove, I can’t be stopped!!
Here’s a festive card perfect for Valentine’s Day that I made with the help of my Brother ScanNCut electronic cutting machine.
Materials Used
5×7 White Card Blank – Canvas Corp
4.75”x6.75” Printed Paper (mine is a Gelli Print I made but you can also use your favourite double sided cardstock).
Gold DecoFoil – Interweave
DecoFoil Peel N Stick Toner Sheets – Interweave
Brother ScanNCut electronic cutting machine – Brother (any model will do, I used the new CM650W)
Iron/Ironing Surface and Parchment Paper
Instructions
I flattened and placed the card blank on the cutting mat (inside facing down) and scanned it into my machine to be used as a placement guide.
In the pattern section I selected a nice font to write the words YOU MORE and centered it where I wanted it on the screen and used the DRAW function to write the sentiment with the black pen ink. This was fabulous since I didn’t have a stamp to stamp this out and, quite frankly, I have a hard time lining up stuff like this up in my printer. Love this feature for cards! Custom lettered sentiments!
Without taking the card off the cutting mat, I re-scanned it so I could see the printed sentiment. I then imported a scalloped heart file that was already pre-programmed in the ScanNCut machine, re-sized it and centered it above the sentiment accordingly. With the standard cutting blade, I cut this out.
LOVE THIS!
I then cut the word LOVE out of the DecoFoil Peel N Stick Toner Sheets with the ScanNCut and then brought it over to my ironing station to be foiled!!
Before foiling, I adhered the pattern paper behind the cut heart.
The toner paper is Peel N Stick so I peeled the backing from the die-cut and adhered it to the front of the card. I used an iron because I didn’t have a hot laminator that worked well. The foil sticks to the toner sheets with hot pressure so… I place the foil on top of the sentiment and sandwiched the card with parchment paper to iron the foil to the word. Please don’t press too long…. and wait for it to cool a bit before removing the foil. If you didn’t quite catch it all, place an unused portion of the foil back on top of the spot and press with the iron again. The foil will stick to the entire surface.
I love it more with the foil accent!! wink
Super cute, right? 🙂
I hope this inspires you to use the DRAW FUNCTION on your ScanNCut machine. It’s not just for cutting, you know! And, don’t let me get started about the possibilities when using your own markers with the new Universal Pen Holder! Ideas….ideas…ideas…..
Anyway, have fun and keep being creative!
