Pinwheel Photo mats Β Β Materials: Magenta Paper, Stencils, and Stamps, Liquitex Gesso and Texture Medium, Beacon Adhesives 3in1, Oil Pastels, Ranger Gel Pen, Clearsnap ink Who says photo mats have to be square or flat? We have seen pinwheels used in scrapbooking for years. They are an inexpensive and fun way to embellish any page, but I thought it might be fun to use them as photo mats under this group of fun shots of my daughter being silly. Β To soften the edges of them I brushed them with a little gesso. Β To add more texture to this page I scraped a texture paste through a Magenta stencil and let it dry. I also punched circles out of the same paper as the pinwheels and brushed them with gesso. Instead of traditional journaling I let this fabulous Magenta stamp do all the talking for me. Β This Magenta…
Hoping for spring! Materials: Magenta Stamps and cork sticker, Liquitex Gel Medium, book paper, Clearsnap inks, Canuck Crafts Spectrum Noir coloured pencils, Charcoal pencil IΒ did this little art journal page to give myself a little bit of spring. I donβt think I am the only person who is ready for birds singing and sun shining! I started by using matt gel medium to attach these images over my background. I really like colouring over the gel medium with these Spectrum Noir pencils. They are so smooth and silky and blend beautifully. Happy Spring! When to stop and when not to? by Christy Riopel January always makes me a little introspective and I tend to scrapbook more interpersonal stuff this time of year. I created this layout about dealing with the old(er) girl in the mirror these days. SUPPLIES: FabScraps pattened paper and chipboard, Aladine Izink inksΒ distributed byΒ Clearsnap, May Arts ribbon, Impression Obsession stamps, ColorBox Surfacez ink by Clearsnap, Spellbinders dies and Grand Calibur die cutting machine, Dymo Label Maker, Ranger Industries gel pen, Beacon Adhesives. It ended up being an exploration in not just one hard question ( when did I get this old?) but in another unrelated question I often faceβ¦.. When do I stop? When is enough on a layout? Here is a picture of what It looked like when I first thought it was done. Β Β Not that I was unhappy with it but I just felt it needed more.…
Yummy Bo Bunny neutrals and Canuck Crafts Spectrum Noir Bendable Pencils! Materials: Bo Bunny patterned papers, stickers, flowers, wood embellishments and jewels, Canuck Crafts Spectrum Noir pencils, and blender marker, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. Β Canuck Crafts Spectrum Noir pencils are so creamy and rich that they make them the perfect way to add colour to these beautiful Bo Bunny papers. I used them under my embellishments to create a beautiful peek-a-boo of warm colour. Β I started by drawing a line where the edge of my photo will be and then colouring in areas around it. Β I ran out of blending solution for the pencils, but in the pinch I discovered something fantastic!!! I used my blending Spectrum Noir Marker to polish and blend my colouring. Β This makes it look like water colours, but without the bubbling and wetness of traditional water colour pencils. So the next time you want a…
Chalkboard embellishments are all the rage right now and I love Core-dinations ColorCore cardstocks new Chalk Core Paper for making my own embellishments! I used Core’dinations Color Core cardstock, Spellbinders dies, Clearsnap Izinks, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Simple Stories stickers, Prima Marketing flowers, Xyron Sticker MakersΒ and Marvy gel pens. I cut out and embossed several shapes from the Chalk Core paper using my dies. To make it easier to sand the very fine cuts I first ran them through my Xyron sticker maker. Leaving the cut out on the backing I then sanded the embossed die cuts making them look like beautiful fine chalk work!! I then added them to my layout over a layer of Clearsnap Izinks. I added a very old, vintage photo of myself that I recently stumbled upon. Many people ask me what they should do differently with their older photosβ¦my answer is nothing, do…
Summer is almost here and that means Sunglassesβ¦. and no one loves them more than my Ashley. I love scrapbooking day to day photos like this. I used: Β Simple Stories patterned paper, tags, and stickers, Sizzix stamps, dies and embossing folders, Clearsnap Surfacez inks, and Stephanie Barnard Sprays, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. I stamped the Sizzix flags onto a Simple Stories card and used the Sizzix co-ordinating dies to cut them out. I love the versatility of this set. I also used a Sizzix embossing folder on two other cards from the same pack and layered them behind my photo to create texture. I love to get as much as I can out of my supplies, so I cut upΒ theΒ border of the Simple Stories alpha sticker sheet into little square stickers and attached them to the page. Happy Summer βIs-Almost-Here Scrapping! To see more of Christy’s work…
Happy Tuesday everyone! Today I am sharing a layout I created using a military themed lined of products from FabScraps Materials: FabScraps patterned paper, stickers and chipboard, Clearsnap ink, Beacon 3in1 Adhesive, Dymo tape, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L foam squares. I wanted my layout to hint towards the military nature of the Museum we visited so I cut pennant flags from FabScraps paper and arranged them like a soldiers medals. I curled the paper with my fingers to add dimension to the page. I used Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L foam squares to attach the flags so they will stand up from the page. Hello everyone Christy Riopel here on the blog today! I am all about creating layers these days. Stamps are a great way to add layers without adding bulk to your page. This Magenta Crafty Secrets Swirl is one of the most used stamps I own. It so versatile that I have yet to run out of uses for it. I love how it peaks out from under my stickers. Supplies: Magenta stamps, Fancy Pants Designs patterned paper and stickers, May Arts Ribbon, gesso, Clearsnap ColorBox Chalk Ink, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L,Β Photo by Allison Orthner Have a wonderful week everyone! Hello everyone – Christy Riopel here! I love Core’dinations ColorCore pre-embossed cardstock. It makes a great base for a mixed media technique page. I started by dry brushing gesso over the entire surface of the teal paper. Donβt add water as that may lessen the embossing a bit. I then added Clearsnap ColorBox dye ink to the raised surfaces by directly rubbing the ink pad on them. I love the how antique the finished look is. I used Core’dinations ColorCore die cuts on the page as some of the many layers I have under my photo. Supply list: Core’dinations ColorCoreΒ paper and die cuts, May Arts Ribbon, paper doily, gesso, Clearsnap ColorBox dye ink, Marvy pen, Beacon Adhesive, Photo by Allison Orthner.
