Hello everyone! Cathie Allan here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. Today, I thought I would share the Make-n-Take, from an event I did with Katharina in Chantilly, Virginia. First I will tell you this was an exceptional event. If you are a paper crafter of any kind you will want to be at their next event. So many booths, vendors, door prizes, a huge crop and more. Creative Scrapbooker Magazine was there and we met so very many amazing paper crafters, made new friends and shared ideas. Here is the 10-minute make-n-take that the participants did in our booth. We had so much fun creating these speedy little tags, sharing ideas, laughing and giggling together. Once I got home, I took the same ideas and created more tags and a scrapbook page. Yes, I added embellishments from MultiCraft because “why not”, lol. This was a quick idea that…
Kim Gowdy here today with a fun little, mixed media tag to share. I love that all these wonderful mixed media products have oozed into the scrapbooking and card making world. Do you? I believe that any hobby that we stick with for a long time needs to challenge us to keep us interested and engaged. Scrapbooking continues to do just that for me…from my photography to trying new products and techniques, this industry still holds my interest after 12 years! Let’s take a peek at my tag and process. Let’s create the base! Thanks for joining me. I love how my tag turned out. I’m not sure yet how I will use. It may become a scrapbook page element, I may tuck it into an art journal or I may use it on a bottle of wine to give to my hubby to celebrate a milestone anniversary. The photo…

Happy Tuesday! Kim here with a fun Aloha layout I finished up not too long ago. Do you ever find a collection of papers and embellishments and immediately know what photo[s] you would use with it? I LOVE when that happens, because that’s a big part of the creative process taken care of…sometimes the hardest! This was just the case when I saw the Sun-Kissed collection from Creative Memories! We were fortunate to get to Hawaii for the very first time in February…this paper pack and matching embellishments screamed ALOHA to me! I instantly knew what I wanted to do with this layout, so it came together quite quick…which is so not my norm! I started out with a piece of Creative Scrapbooker Superstock, my favourite base to work on. It’s 110lb cardstock and is a wonderful sturdy base to layer on. I trimmed it down so that I could…
This week we are visiting the winter 2016 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine. In this issue, Christy Riopel did some SERIOUS designing with the Creative Memories Original Border Punch system. SHE ROCKED IT! Here is just a sample of one the projects she created for her regular column – The Tool Junkie. This was the very last article that Christy wrote for Creative Scrapbooker Magazine before her passing in August of 2016. Using the Creative Memories Border Punch System to Create a Stencil 1. Load a cartridge that makes a set of holes as a border. Some punches work better for this than others. 2. Punch a strip into a thicker piece of cardstock. 3. Using a Clearsnap ColorBox stylus and white foam tip, sponge ink through the holes onto your project. 4. Repeat with other colours to finish off the background. Have a wonderful Saturday everyone. In loving memory of…

Each and every week, we look back in time and remember the beautiful art of our late friend and colleague Christy Riopel. Christy’s art was and still is timeless. So many of her creations from way back when are still hot and trendy today. Here is a blog post from over 6 years ago that Christy created for Creative Scrapbooker Magazine about recycling and embossing pop cans! AWESOME! Upcycling Pop Cans to Make Embossed “Tin Panels” by Christy Riopel I was inspired by an old tin ceiling panels when I created this page. I love how they go with the vintage feel of the photo. To make the panels I cut the top and bottom off a pop can and down the side. I then took my Spellbinders embossing folder and embossed the metal from the can. I then painted it with gesso and let it dry. I sprayed it…
Hello, Connie Nichol here today with an easy birthday card made from an Art Impressions stamp and die set. Art Impressions has a huge selection of different interactive stamp sets which need to be pulled, unfolded, twisted, spun or shaken. Go check them out. The designs will be sure to bring a big smile to your face. Who doesn’t love to get a card that flutters or wobbles? I played with the Birthday Fairy set to create a couple of cards – the set comes with the stamps, dies and an action ‘wobble’. You can see from the side photo that the fairy’s skirt is dimensional and mobile. Here’s another slightly different version of the Birthday Fairy card in royal blue. Here’s the stamp set: I stamped the fairy and her skirt with Clearsnap Top Boss ink and embossed with black embossing powder. I find that embossing an image…
