Build β with Frugal Metal Embellishments Featuring Graphic 45 In my house, there always seems to be bits of metal laying around β such as screws, bolts, washers and various other whatnots β picked up from who knows where and brought home because you never know when you might need it. Β LOL.Β Β I was tidying up one day and the metal washers caught my eye as a potential embellishment because they are flat and lightweight.Β I repurposed most of the washers on this layout from my husbandβs stash, but they are also very inexpensive to purchase at a hardware store, usually about 15 cents each depending upon the size. The Typography collection from Graphic 45 was perfect for this layout.Β It is simply gorgeous. I used my favourite chalk ink in βBlackbirdβ and a foam applicator by Clearsnap to smudge the edges of the layout in black and give…
By Connie Nichol with Fancy Pants Designs, May Arts ribbon, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3LΒ and Beacon Adhesive Supplies: Β Bazzill Basics Paper cardstock, Fancy Pants Designs patterned paper, stickers and wood title, May Arts ribbon, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Β and Beacon Adhesive. I love pretty much all products by Fancy Pants Designs but the Collecting MomentsΒ lineΒ released in the summer of 2013 is one of my favourites.Β Β I find that the colours and patterns are perfect for all sorts of projects – girl layouts, boy layouts, cards – you name it.Β Here’s a layout I did featuring some silly selfie photos I took with my friends Kim and Jackie on a recent trip to Nova Scotia.Β When I look at these pictures, I am instantly transported back to Mavillette Beach and the feeling of that wind!!!Β I used May Arts Ribbon natural burlap string to mimic the energy of the wind…
Have you seen these beautiful intricate dies from Spellbinders?Β Β Β They are just gorgeous, and with a few little tricks, easy to use. I absolutely love this little die called ‘Cattails’.Β Although I have to say, I’m a prairie girl, and while I’m sure the die could look like cattails, to me, it looks like wheat.Β So that’s what I used it for.Β Stalks of ripe wheat, blowing in the breeze. The first time I tried using this die, I discovered it was not quite as simple as all of the other Spellbinders dies I have used over the years.Β Because it is so intricate and highly detailed, I had a few issues with it cutting all the way through, and then had trouble actuallyΒ getting the paper out of the die.Β Β I had a quick look on the internet for some suggestions on how to make it easier.Β Β I found…
Welcome to Part 4 of a 10-part series calledΒ Where We Scrap, where our bloggers share their scrap space with you. Β This week, Connie Nichol is sharing her space. I don’t have a fancy place to scrap but I am grateful to have my own little corner of the house to make a creative mess. When I started to scrapbook about 11 years ago after baby #2 was born, the only available spot in the house was in the basement next to the chest freezer. So, I put a table next to the freezer and worked on that. Of course over time the table filled up with ‘stuff’, so I used it more for storage and did my actual scrapbooking on top of the freezer. I vastly prefer to scrap standing up, especially when I am stamping, so this works perfectly except when somebody wants something from the freezer (“Mom, can…
