My oldest son went through the ‘ghoul’ phase when he was 9 and 10 – he wanted only to be a scary masked ghoul with a weapon. The scarier looking the weapon, the better. Sigh. Gone were the cute animal or super hero costumes. Here’s the Simple Stories mini-kit I used: This is such a great kit! Six sheets of double sided patterned paper and a 6×12 sheet of cardstock stickers is the perfect size to create a handful of Halloween layouts and cards without being overwhelmed. Today I am sharing some items I made using the new Jeepers Creepers paper packet from Close To My Heart! I happened to have recently purchased a pencil that came in a little test tube style container from Staples, an office supply store. Part of the proceeds from these pencils go towards “Me To We” (formerly known as Free The Children), which was a program my son got involved in a couple of years ago through the middle school he was attending at the time. Anyways, back to a closer look at my little project… Cute, right? The test tube could be filled with little candies, too. And don’t you just love the little bats? I cut them out using Black Glitter Paper and the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge, both from Close To My Heart. Hello! It’s Kim here on the blog today! Just wanted to share a Halloween themed layout with you using some of my “new” favourite products! I was recently introduced to Magenta’s Nuance powders and I think I just may be developing a crush on them! I used them on this layout to create the background. I first applied a thin layer of Gesso to my Canadian Scrapbooker Superstock. This “primes” the page making it less porous, which in turn allows for longer working time with some products! I spritzed the paper with water in the areas I want to apply colour, then tap some Nuance powders on the area and spritz with more water. Sometimes I would jiggle the page to move the colour, sometimes move it with a heat gun and sometimes dap it with paper towel to soften the colour. In other words…JUST PLAY! I layered the FabScraps’…

Hi everybody, Connie Nichol here. Halloween is fast approaching, bringing to mind ghouls, goblins, ghosts and all things spooky. My kids love this time of year, especially the dressing up in costumes part, although the abundance of treats collected door to door doesn’t hurt either. Stampin’ Up! has so many cute Halloween themed products in their holiday catalogue. I especially adore the Motley Monsters designer series patterned paper. The patterns and colours are fun and bright, so the resulting projects are cheery and upbeat. Here’s the layout I created using some of these papers. I cut a few cardstock leaves with the Fun Fall Framelit dies but most of the interesting stuff on the page is from fussy cut elements from the patterned papers themselves. JUST KEEPING IT “SCARILY” SIMPLE AND HANDSOME TOO! It’s Halloween and time for trick or treating. Therefore, I decided to “treat” myself by creating this fun Halloween card and then using the same basic techniques, supplies and stamps (okay, so I changed one, lol), I then treated myself a second time to this wonderful scrapbook page that bears the photo of my “grandhandsomeson” Liam. I kept it basic, all the inking techniques are simple and truly easy to learn and I know everyone can do them. If you have Volume #6 of Canadian Scrapbooker Basics and/or you follow my articles in Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine, you probably recognize the techniques I used.
