Happy Tuesday everyone! Kim here to share a heartfelt layout with you today! It has been ten months since our dear Java left us for โpuppy fields in the skyโ and I still am surprised to come home and not be greeted by her, 14 years of unconditional love forms routines! My process for this page came together easily, I think because the subject is so dear to my heart. I had saved some of the thoughtful cards sent to us when we had to put Java down. I think originally I couldnโt throw them out because it made her passing so final and I was genuinely surprised that people had sent them, after all to some she was โjust a dogโ. When I came across the Graphic 45 paper collection โRaining Cats & Dogsโ, I knew it was time to pull the cards out to save forever! This paper…
One of my favourite things is truly a scrapbook layout about anything CANADIAN!ย Iย sincerely have a soft spot for this beautiful country I call home. Over the next few weeks I will be highlighting some layouts our design team created about their hometowns! I LOVE THEM ALL (Yep the layouts and the wonderful girls on my team)! Meet Kim Gowdy Kim has been apart of Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine almost since the beginning! Did you know we started offering FREE cut files this summer? Sue Sykes designed these fabulous cut files for our readers. They can be cut with many die cutting machines on the market that are able to cut using an SVG or Studio file. I thought we should share them again and encourage you to use them! These fun designs will be great for summer fun and winter getaways! I played with Sue’s third cut file, an inspirational quote that spoke perfect words to my graduating son’s picture. I played with the file a bit to change to word sizes and placement. I believe most programs will let you do this. It took some ungrouping and regrouping of letters, but very doable! I hope you take the time to download these wonderful files, they are yours to download and use for FREE! SUPPLIES: Canadian Scrapbooker Super Stock, Kaisercraft patterned paper,…
Kim here for a quick post featuring a really FUN die set from Sizzix. Itโs their triple, square, ย flip-it cards die! This is such a great way to make quick, EASY cards that look like you have spent lots of time on! Perfect for any occasion, I think the look can be endless! The set comes with lots of pieces to mix up the look and mat the cards. It is brilliantly simple! All you have to do is think up what papers and embellishments to use! I chose to use 6×6 paper pads from Forever In Time. They were easy to mix and match! Here is the first of three cards I’m sharing, a good any occasion card. I used these fun paper butterflies from Forever In Time! I have come to love them! The next card is a simple birthday card. Look…more of those butterflies! The inside…
Hello from me…Kim Gowdy! I am back into routine after a wonderful holiday with my family. I LOVE time off work, it gives me time to relax and lets the stress leave my body! My shoulders start to loosen and drop, my brain wonders away from work things and I get to reconnect with my family! Another thing that happens is my creative self grows. Sometimes I find my scrapbook layouts reflect daily life…when routine is rigid, my pages are also. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but I really love when I let myself ย be more free. This page I feel is a result of holidays. I just had fun placing embellishments kind of randomly, adding some ink splotches and stitching…I really like the feel! I kept my supplies simple using only patterned paper from one line: Fancy Pants Nautical Collection. A little ribbon from May Artsย Ribbon and…

Hello everyone from Kim Gowdy! Here is a quick post here to highlight to lovely Pincushion paper line by Bo Bunny. For this layout I used four different patterned papers from their collection as well as the chipboard die cuts and stickers. It was the perfect paper to use for this layout of my Mom; an avid quilter! The overlay of the sewing tools was cut using the new Brother ScanNCut. This is not an image in the library of the cutting machine. I found this free SVG file on line and used the free online, Canvas software to upload and convert to a file the ScanNCut could use. The whole process was quite simple. I embossed the overlay with a rough, weathered type of embossing powder [I forget who makes it as I dump my embossing powders into plastic containers for ease of use]. For a fun touch I…

Hello everyone – Kim Gowdy here on the blog today! I have a confession. I feel scrapbookers /card makers guilt because I was just NOT on the ball this year when it came to making Christmas cards. Not just making them, I couldnโt seem to get them mailed out either. Some years are just like that. For whatever reason; our time gets pulled away from us and used for other things. So I choose NOT to stress [too much] over this and thought I can still share homemade cards. This year I will send out homemade Thank You cards, for Christmas gifts received, and make a few Happy New Year cards to ย those who REALLY should have gotten at least a store bought Christmas card! So I created this little card to send out after the holidays! Pretty simple card using 3 different stamps from Impression Obsessionโฆhow I love their…
