Hello! It’s Kim here on the blog today! Just wanted to share a Halloween themed layout with you using some of my “new” favourite products! I was recently introduced to Magenta’s Nuance powders and I think I just may be developing a crush on them! I used them on this layout to create the background. I first applied a thin layer of Gesso to my Canadian Scrapbooker Superstock. This “primes” the page making it less porous, which in turn allows for longer working time with some products! I spritzed the paper with water in the areas I want to apply colour, then tap some Nuance powders on the area and spritz with more water. Sometimes I would jiggle the page to move the colour, sometimes move it with a heat gun and sometimes dap it with paper towel to soften the colour. In other words…JUST PLAY! I layered the FabScraps’…
Kim Gowdy here on the blog today, happily sharing my layout inspired by the August Sketchy Challenge. I have been struggling to find time in my craft room these past months…but stay focused to get ALL the sketches completed! The August sketch designed by Kelly Klapstein was very graphic. I swayed from that aspect of the design but otherwise kept pretty true to it. My layout is pretty simple using papers, stickers and ephemera from Fancy Pant’s “ME-OLOGY” collection. The paw print, cut behind the pictures, was done on my Cricut Explore using Close To My Heart’s Artistry cartridge. I also used Scrapbook Adhesive by 3L and the little wood veneer dogs were from Studio Calico. By the way; the topic of my layout…TRUE STORY! Go forth and scrapbook with our sketches. Summers in Canada are short! As such, we Canadians pack as much as we can into two or three months, making them very busy! That explains why I am sharing my July sketch in August! Enough said! July’s sketch was a simple grid, easy to work with. There really is so much you can do with this type of sketch, it’s a jumping board to creative fun! I chose to offset my grid and use three pictures! I was pleased with the end results. My four-legged Bella is often a willing subject for scrapbook pages, not so much for laying on the ground while camping! Another month, another Sketchy Challenge! I stayed pretty true to Sue’s design, but still feel I made it my own! I decided to to pick my papers first and pictures last…not always the easiest starting point. I choose to create my layout using the BoBunny “Safari” collection. As I played with the patterns and sketch I remembered I had a few pictures kicking around from my teenage days in Germany. I choose to use one from school trip to the Berlin! My journalling is tucked behind the upper corner of my picture. I used two 3×4 journal cards included in the collection; folded in half. This is not the first time I have been late with a Sketchy Challenge, but I always rise to the challenge sooner or later; sometimes I even redeem myself by getting them done “right out of the gate”! This would be the case with June’s sketch; that will be shared on another post! I love grids. They really are the core design element of most everything. When in doubt…think grid! Sue Sykes May Sketchy Challenge is all about the grid! I adapted the sketch for my layout to suit the size and number of pictures I used; I really love how it turned out. Kim here from my super-HOT scrapbooking room! [Note to self: when the furnace dies…air conditioning goes in at the same time as the new furnace!] Tomorrow we celebrate Canada Day from East to West and in between! Our big, beautiful country is so worthy of its 148th celebration! I felt it appropriate to create a scrapbook page in honour of Canada! As I mentioned…it is hot in my house! I scrapbook on the upper level of our house & hot air rises! I had a hard time staying focused in the heat, so my layout is pretty simple…quick to put together! I started by using Core’dinations cardstock for my base& mat. I cut the SIZZIX maple leaf for my Canada flag. I used DCWV cork sheets for the red components of the flag…I love the texture! I don’t know about you but sometimes I head to my craft room in hopes of being creative, turn on the T.V. for “company” and get pulled into whatever show happens to be on…making for some very unproductive creative time. If this sounds familiar…this page is for YOU! Adornit has come out with these fun Art Play Printables. 12 x 22 pages with fun images for you to colour, I am certain you find a few you can’t live without! The pages are made from sturdy, quality watercolour paper, so they will stand up easily to paint and markers. So here’s the trick…turn on the T.V. and colour! Hello! Kim here to show you how to make some gorgeous watercolour style backgrounds for your stamped images. I will be using a Gel Printing Plate, Tombow markers, water and Canadian Scrapbooker Super Stock. The Canadian Scrapbooker Super Stock works best because it is so strong and can hold up to the amount of wet media used on this project. I am so NOT a video person, but thought it would be easier to show you this simple technique in video format.
