Thinking of You – One Layer Card

Kim here for a quick share today! Are you ever in need of a “quick” one layer card to drop in the mail? I often need to make a card on the fly, here’s one way to do just that. Using three colours of Ranger Distress Oxide and Creative Scrapbooker’s Super Stock, I created a gradient of colour. I inked these colours over a circle mask, adhered with Scrapbook Adhesive by 3L reposition-able tape [ the GREEN one ]. Next, grab a stencil and use a baby wipe to “lift” off the Distress Oxide Ink, this adds a little extra visual texture to your card. I dug into my Magenta stash to find this leafy stem stamp. To give it a silhouette vibe, I stamped using Ranger’s Archival black ink. I like to work on a single piece of cardstock and then adhere to a card base with a permanent…

Christy Riopel was problably most famous for her incredibly stunning art journals. Her ability to take a few white pieces of paper and turn them into a stunning work of art was truly a gift that amazed me. Journal Jump Offs A few years back Christy started a regular feature in Creative Scrapbooker Magazine called Journal Jump Off’s. In every other issue Christy taught an art journaling technique and then applied that technique to a scrapbook page or a card. Here is an example from the Spring 2016 issue of Creative ScrapbookerMagazine. In this issue Christy taught us the basic techniques for using stencils and Magenta Nuance powders while art journaling.
