Well HELLO Creative Scrapbookers, it’s been a minute! Kim here with a blog post I have been promising to share, but there always seems to be something that pulls me in a different direction! So here goes! First, isn’t it wonderful that we are seeing creative events happen in real life again? Tables full of friends laughing, scrapbooking, learning and likely shopping as well, is a experience not to be missed! My first in-person retreat; post Covid, was with the team from Elizabeth Craft Designs. They hosted an amazing Creative Retreat in Banff, Canada, no detail was left unmanaged! The venue, the instructors, the projects, the goody bags [WOWSERS!] and of course the people made it a huge success. Lots of new friendships made and I connected with people I had only ‘met’ online. Size does matter, sometimes! There are times I want to create smaller than a 12×12. Not because it’s easier, because it works different creative muscles. I pulled out my planner from Elizabeth Craft Designs and used the July 2021 Sketchy Challenge as a starting point.When I work in the planner, I am always aware of what will ‘split’ down the center. Sometimes I will let photos or ephemera flow across the center if it doesn’t cut in an awkward place, i.e. splitting a person in half would not be good! I have been using the Elizabeth Craft Designs Planner Essential system for over a year now. I have a mix of Planner Essential Dies and Art Journal Dies, they give me endless options. Once I get started creating I find it hard to go to bed, they really push me to think creatively and their dies allow me to use up supplies in really unique ways. For this two-page spread, I used the Celebrate Autumn Collection from Echo Park Paper Co. It’s an older collection with a fabulous colour scheme. I can’t resist teal and yellow. One of the fun items in the Echo Park Paper Co. collections is the Journaling Cards. These cards transition easily into actual pockets and tags with Elizabeth Craft Designs dies.
