Wondering over to the Spellbinders blog I came across their incredibly talented design team including Yana Smakula. Yana is from Ternopil, Ukraine and her work blew me away! Here are just few samples on the Spellbinders blog that I found that I instantly fell in love with. Here is a close up look at some of the detailed layering on the Happy Birthday card. I have wanted to create this layout for some time. This photo was the inspiration. The young man on the left hand side is my Dad, and is you look closely he’s holding a bunny in his ball glove. I am so glad that I waited until I had the Tim Holtz for Ranger Distress Oxide Inks to play with. Here is how I added the rust like colouring to the background and the largest rusty photo mat. I used watercolour paper and Ranger  Distress Oxide Inks to create this rust like background. To do this you need a non stick craft mat. Stamp the ink directly onto the craft mat, spray with water and mix with your fingers. Then dip the paper into the ink/water mixture. Dry with a heat gun. Then do the same with the next colour of ink. Dry again with a heat gun. Do the…

This week we will be featuring a blog post Christy created for us 3 years ago. When to stop and when not to? by Christy Riopel January always makes me a little introspective and I tend to scrapbook more interpersonal stuff this time of year. I created this layout about dealing with the old(er) girl in the mirror these days. SUPPLIES: FabScraps pattened paper and chipboard, Aladine Izink inks distributed by Clearsnap, May Arts ribbon, Impression Obsession stamps, ColorBox Surfacez ink by Clearsnap, Spellbinders dies and Grand Calibur die cutting machine, Dymo Label Maker, Ranger Industries gel pen, Beacon Adhesives. It ended up being an exploration in not just one hard question ( when did I get this old?) but in another unrelated question I often face….. When do I stop? When is enough on a layout? Here is a picture of what It looked like when I first thought it was…

While my layouts are usually less is more, and not full of patterned paper, I wanted to play around with paper on this one…I of course had to add a few dies as accents on my layout. This picture of my kids is from when they went zip lining in Maui a few years back.  Its one of those few times where they are both looking at you, smiling, and not making weird or funny faces…you know how it is sometimes.  😉 I started with a neutral base for my layout, and thought I would add some fun patterned paper. I hand cut a few tag shapes from the patterns and layered them next to my photo. Using my Spellbinders Prizm die cutting and embossing machine I used varying elements from the Spellbinders S2-216 Die D-Lights Amused 1 and Spellbinders  S2-227 Die D-Lites Springtime sets to create little accents in the…
