She die-cut an adorable spider using Therm O Web’s Black Deco Foil Plush Paper and added mini googly eyes to give the card some extra character. The texture from the plush paper makes the spider stand out, creating a perfect focal point on this fun and spooky card. This week we are visiting the fall 2015 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine. In this issue, Christy Riopel had a ton of fun creating with Spellbinder dies and the Grand Calibur die cutting machine. One of the projects Christy created for this article, featured a cameo background she cut out using a die and a die cutting machine. So simple and so stunning. You will want to try this. Cutting A Cameo Background by Christy Riopel Sometimes it is nice to remove some of the background from a photo without cropping the entire image. This cameo style of cutting, is a beautiful and unique technique that will allow you to do just that. 1. Hold the chosen circle or oval die over the photo. Cut along the part of the image that you want to keep from the outside edge in, making slits in the photo. 2. Weave the die into the photo,…
Today we are looking back to the Fall 2015 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine in our weekly feature #RememberingChristy. A timeless layout designed by Christy Riopel with a gentle reminder to Cherish the Little Things. This layout was featured in Christy’s regular column called “Tool Junkie”. Using Your Dies To Make A Stencil 1. Cut a piece of cardstock that is larger than your die. The more border around your die the better. Cut the die out of the centre of the cardstock. 2. On a palette, mix a little embossing paste and some acrylic paint. With a palette knife, scrape the tinted paste over the stencil. 3. Lift your cut stencil and let the paste dry, or dry with a heat tool. Have a wonderful Saturday everyone. In loving memory of Christy Riopel – we continue to raise money for the Christy Riopel Art Scholarship. To date – one…

I have wanted to create this layout for some time. This photo was the inspiration. The young man on the left hand side is my Dad, and is you look closely he’s holding a bunny in his ball glove. I am so glad that I waited until I had the Tim Holtz for Ranger Distress Oxide Inks to play with. Here is how I added the rust like colouring to the background and the largest rusty photo mat. I used watercolour paper and Ranger Distress Oxide Inks to create this rust like background. To do this you need a non stick craft mat. Stamp the ink directly onto the craft mat, spray with water and mix with your fingers. Then dip the paper into the ink/water mixture. Dry with a heat gun. Then do the same with the next colour of ink. Dry again with a heat gun. Do the…
