When you step inside the Spellbinders™ booth at CHA, it’s as if you’ve travelled back in time into a glamorous, Victorian mansion….filled with lace and jewelled treasures. These displays were showcases for Spellbinders “A Gilded Life Studio” , a mixed media product line for jewellery making, home decor, embellishments, paper crafts and so forth.     A vintage dress form made from dress patterns! Fabulous! Spellbinders also introduced a new collection of Shapeabilities™ dies that are trendy and smaller in size, called “In’Spire”…..the anchor, birds on wire, feathers, typewriter etc. The other new Shapeabilities collection is called “Create-A-Flower”, die sets of petals and flower pieces that you build to create beautiful realistic 3D flowers, which I didn’t photograph, but you’ll see on the Spellbinders website and blog in the upcoming weeks. One of the most exciting products newly released by Spellbinders is their new “Tool n’ One”, a portable tool that…

Hi everyone! Jodi Wilton here today to share with you a Holiday Layout I made using one of my favourite Dies from Spellbinders & The fun holiday Collection by Simple Stories: December Documented: I used this Spellbinders die set all the time to make banners in different styles; but today I wanted to share a layout using this die in a whole new way! Triangles are a hot new trend on layouts, so I decided to make a pattern with the medium sized pennant (it would work for any size if you wish!). I used the Basics Kit from the Simple Stories collection to create a pattern that ran the length of my page: Next I added some strips of paper, followed by some May Arts ribbon between the strips of paper and photos. I also used some May Arts ribbon as string for my chipboard ornaments. To…

Upcycling Pop Cans to Make Embossed “Tin Panels” by Christy Riopel I was inspired by old tin ceiling panels when I created this page. I love how they go with the vintage feel of the photo. Supplies: Fancy Pants Designs patterned paper and stickers, Spellbinder’s dies and embossing folders, gesso, Stephanie Barnard for Clearsnap ink sprays, Beacon Adhesives 3in1 glue and Decoupage gloss sealer, Bazzill Basics Paper cardstock, marvy gel pen. To make the panels I cut the top and bottom off a pop can and down the side. I then took my Spellbinders embossing folder and embossed the metal from the can. I then painted it with gesso and let it dry. I sprayed it with Stephanie Barnard for Clearsnap Ink sprays and when they were almost dry I sealed them with Beacon Adhesives spray on Decoupage Gloss Sealer. This keeps the colours vibrant.  I sanded some of…

Hello everyone – Kim Gowdy here on the blog today! I have a confession. I feel scrapbookers /card makers guilt because I was just NOT on the ball this year when it came to making Christmas cards. Not just making them, I couldn’t seem to get them mailed out either. Some years are just like that. For whatever reason; our time gets pulled away from us and used for other things. So I choose NOT to stress [too much] over this and thought I can still share homemade cards. This year I will send out homemade Thank You cards, for Christmas gifts received, and make a few Happy New Year cards to  those who REALLY should have gotten at least a store bought Christmas card! So I created this little card to send out after the holidays! Pretty simple card using 3 different stamps from Impression Obsession…how I love their…

Have you seen these beautiful intricate dies from Spellbinders?    They are just gorgeous, and with a few little tricks, easy to use. I absolutely love this little die called ‘Cattails’.  Although I have to say, I’m a prairie girl, and while I’m sure the die could look like cattails, to me, it looks like wheat.  So that’s what I used it for.  Stalks of ripe wheat, blowing in the breeze. The first time I tried using this die, I discovered it was not quite as simple as all of the other Spellbinders dies I have used over the years.  Because it is so intricate and highly detailed, I had a few issues with it cutting all the way through, and then had trouble actually  getting the paper out of the die.   I had a quick look on the internet for some suggestions on how to make it easier.   I found…
