When to stop and when not to? by Christy Riopel January always makes me a little introspective and I tend to scrapbook more interpersonal stuff this time of year. I created this layout about dealing with the old(er) girl in the mirror these days. SUPPLIES: FabScraps pattened paper and chipboard, Aladine Izink inksΒ distributed byΒ Clearsnap, May Arts ribbon, Impression Obsession stamps, ColorBox Surfacez ink by Clearsnap, Spellbinders dies and Grand Calibur die cutting machine, Dymo Label Maker, Ranger Industries gel pen, Beacon Adhesives. It ended up being an exploration in not just one hard question ( when did I get this old?) but in another unrelated question I often faceβ¦.. When do I stop? When is enough on a layout? Here is a picture of what It looked like when I first thought it was done. Β Β Not that I was unhappy with it but I just felt it needed more.…

These past week, I remembered. I remembered what I have no first hand knowledge about. I remembered brave men and women I have never met. I celebrated the safety and freedom of my life. Today, my heart overflows with gratitude for the bravery and sacrifice of others. Thank-you. A few years ago, we were able to spend Canada Day in Ottawa. What an experience that was! I loved the ceremony and the pride and joy swelling from the crowds. I bet you are wondering why I am reminiscing about Canada Day on Remembrance Day. It is simply because we stopped at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on that day. I guess I just felt the need to look at those photos again. And remember. Lest we forgetβ¦ Supplies Used: Cardstock- Bazzill Basics Paper Β and Core’dinations ColorCore cardstock; Patterned Paper, Stickers- Graphic 45; Dies- Spellbinders; Phoomph under photos and…
JUST KEEPING IT βSCARILYβ SIMPLE AND HANDSOME TOO! Itβs Halloween and time for trick or treating.Β Therefore, I decided toΒ βtreatβ myself by creating this fun Halloween card and then using the same basic techniques, supplies and stampsΒ (okay, so I changed one, lol), I then treated myself a second time to this wonderful scrapbook page that bears the photo of my βgrandhandsomesonβ Liam. Β I kept it basic, all the inking techniques are simple and truly easy to learn and I know everyone can do them. If you have Volume #6 of Canadian Scrapbooker Basics and/or you follow my articles in Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine, you probably recognize the techniques I used. Basically I smeared Β my way to a great background using colors from the Provence, petal point from Clearsnap and this great brick background from the fine folks at Magenta. I used the same background for both the card…
Happy Monday! Kim here with a quick card to share! I have been wanting to work with this paper collection from Heartfelt Creations for sometime now, but there always seems to be something else that needs to get done! Friday morning I put it on the top of my to-do list andΒ am so happy I did. Creative time is so good for my soul! Celebrate the Journey collection also has some wonderful dies and stamps that play fabulously together! These are just a few! I chose to make my own background paper using Canadian Scrapbooker’s Superstock, Clearsnap Colorbox chalk & pigment inks and of course the wonderful stamp shown below! I matted the background with paper from the collection andΒ began toΒ build my card. I used the hot air balloon stamp to create my dimensional elements and layered May Arts ribbonΒ &Β pieces of patterned papers to get the look I wanted.…

I am just loving some of the new Spellbinders Shapeability dies that were released this winter.Β The die set βShootβ, a set of five arrow dies, actually inspired this layout.Β Because arrows made me think about directions, I googled βdirection quotesβ and found a perfect quote for a scrapbook page.Β There were a lot of great quotes to choose from but Iβm thinking that arrows are the perfect touch for many projects.Β A very versatile die set.Β Spellbinders also manufactures my favourite alphabet die sets β the font one upper and lower case sets are the perfect size and style for many projects.Β Just love them.Β When you make your own letter stickers, you never run out of βaβs. Adhering small or delicate die cuts can be tricky, but a Xyron Create-a-Sticker makes the process incredibly easy.Β I turned all of my Spellbinder die cuts into stickers so that they…
