Connie Nichol and I were really excited about our first morning at CHA, which started early with a breakfast and demo for the media in the Ranger booth.
We spent 20 minutes with each of 4 designers….and the first one was Tim Holtz!
At the demo tables, we learned all about the new releases for each designer’s line.
Tim Holtz has a number of exciting new products.
Everyone is excited about the Distress Crayons! Distress Crayons are formulated to achieve vibrant coloring effects on porous surfaces for mixed-media. The smooth water-reactive pigments are ideal for creating brilliant backgrounds, watercoloring, smudge effects and more. Colour directly onto your surface and blend with water then layer with Distress Inks or Stains for more creative possibilities. The crayons are available in 3 sets that coordinate with the Distress Palette.
There are 3 new mediums that look amazing, and Tim demonstrated how to use each one. They come in 2 sizes of jars.
Tim Holtz® Distress Collage Mediums are gel mediums designed for gluing, layering, and sealing mixed-media projects. They are available in three unique finishes – Matte which dries translucent to a matte finish, Vintage which dries semi-translucent with a vintage tinted matte finish, and Crazing which dries translucent with a sublte crackle/craze matte finish.
Use the Collage Mediums with an assortment of brushes specially designed for the application of all the Collage Mediums. The Distress Collage Brushes come in a variety of sizes.
There is a new Picket Fence Distress Ink that is joining the HUGE family of Distress Inks, which continues to grow.
Each Designer featured they own 3-pack of Mica Sprays, a changeover from the previously released Perfect Pearls sprays. Tim’s are Tarnished Brass, Brushed Pewter and Antiqued Bronze.
There are also new Distress Mini Spray Stains. The Distress Paints now come in a flip top instead of a dabber.
There is new wood grain detailed card stock that has beautiful texture, perfect for inking and distressing. They come in packs of 12 and are pre-cut 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″.
Another cool new paper release are the packs of Alcohol Ink Yupo, a synthetic paper that comes in white and translucent and that will work well with a variety of mediums, including alcohol inks, paints and stains.
Each designer has released a 4 pad palette of favourite ink colours.
Our next Designer Demo was with Dyan Reaveley, and the colours exploded from her table! LOVE! Her collection is called Dylusions.
See the white pen illustrations on her black paper in that journal? There are 2 new paint pens, black and white.
There are new Postcards, Colouring sheets, Adhesive canvas sheets, and journal inserts.
There are wonderful new Dylusions stamps and stencils:
And we all know and love Dylusions paints!
Next up was the fabulous Dina Wakely!
It was so cool to see Dina’s art journal masterpieces and canvases in real life.
Dina is releasing new stencils and stamps….
Plus, there are new heavy body acrylic paint colours in tubes:
There are new Media Boards to create mixed media with. The new Dina Wakley Media Board is primed white canvas mounted to heavyweight chipboard with a smooth white backing. This new surface accepts a variety of paint, ink and art mediums.
Then our last demo was with the talented Susan Lenart Kazmer, who works with Ice Resin and make gorgeous art, including jewellery.
Susan showed us how easy it is to mix resin and make molds.
You can make Ice Resin bezels, and the product line includes Ice Resin Tints, mixing cups, Molding Putty, Foil Sheets, and so on. Jewellery makers will love the Ice Resin Glass Glitter, Opals, Shattered Mica, and Iced Enamels.
The effects of Ice Resin is gorgeous!
The displays were stunning!
The rest of the Ranger booth is filled with even more product…if you can believe it!
