Hey Creative Scrapbooker Fans! Katelyn Grosart back on the blog today to share with you a fun art journal page. Summer has arrived and the inspiration for my project definitely came from all the bright colours that come with summer. The jumping off point for my project was the Small Patterns & Forever & Always collections from Wild Whisper Designs which combined with a variety of mediums and art journal from Ranger Ink, stencils from Stampers Anonymous, a die from Elizabeth Craft Designs and adhesive from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, I was able to create my fun I Have an Entire Forest Art, Journal Page. You’ll want to grab a cup of your favourite beverage as I share with you how I created my page. For the background of my art journal pages, I put a base coat of White Gesso from Ranger Ink on the pages. With the gesso dry, I spritz Peony Blush, Pure Sunshine and Tangerine Dream Dylusions Sprays from Ranger Ink randomly on the page. Add water to the spritz colour and close the art journal. Open the art journal to the page and roll a paper towel over the page. That creates the light coloured effect on the page.
I randomly stenciled the Stitched, Diamonds and Linen Stencils from Stampers Anonymous onto my art journal page using a baby wipe and applying Tangerine Dream, Lemon Zest and Peony Blush Dylusions Paint from Ranger Ink through the stencils over the corresponding colour. Once the paint dried, I placed the Doily stencil from Stampers Anonymous randomly on the art journal page and placed Texture Paste – Opaque Matte from Ranger Ink through it.
After the stenciled texture paste had dried, I randomly stamped the stitched and loops from the World’s Best Stamp Set by Wild Whisper Designs using Jet Black Archival Ink from Ranger Ink. With the stamping done, rub Hickory Smoke Distress Crayon from Ranger Ink along the edges of the art journal page. To add a third layer to my art journal page, I cut a variety of 1 3/4” Stitched Hexagons from Elizabeth Craft Designs out of each of the Small Patterns Paper from Wild Whisper Designs. You’ll need 41 stitched hexagons. Ink the edges of the stitched hexagons using Hickory Smoke Distress Ink from Ranger Ink. Randomly adhere the stitched hexagons as desired on the art journal page.
To tone down the grey on the hexagons, I rubbed White Linen Dylusions Paint from Ranger Ink on each of the stitched hexagons. After the paint had dried, I rubbed Hickory Smoke Distress Crayon from Ranger Ink around each stitched hexagon.
For the right side of the page, I fussy cut flowers from the Forever & Always Collection from Wild Whisper Designs. For the saying on the page, I cut apart one of the sayings from the Card pack from the Forever & Always collection by Wild Whisper Designs. You’ll want to use 3D Foam Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L to adhere a doily to the center of the page. Use 3D Foam Squares and adhesive from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L to adhere the saying on the doily and the flowers in the bottom left and top right of the doily.
