HI Friends, welcome to the Creative Scrapbooker Blog today! Its Karan Gerber here to host the blog for you today and I have a simple winter, scrapbook layout to share with you using papers from the Kaisercraft Wonderland Paper Collection.
I know sometimes we want to fit as many photos as we can on a layout, but often times we are able to capture a special moment and that photo deserves a full page. This photo is of my friend’s grandson Boston, I am so grateful she let me scrapbook him.
To start off, I used the Wonderland snowfall for my background, cutting out a one-inch frame all the way around and I matted an
11 .75 x 11.75 dark blue cardstock on top. Realizing this color would be too dark for my layout I decided to add another cardstock mat on top of that measuring 11×11. My cut out from the background paper is now my background and this measures 10.75 x 10.75.
The photo I used is 5×7 and has a 5.25 x 7.25 white photo mat. I decided to cut a piece from the wonderland frost paper measuring 7.5 x 7.5 I lightly inked the edges with peacock feathers distress ink and used foam adhesive to adhere this to my main background paper.
The shapes of the snowflakes reminded me of some chipboard I had in my stash from 2 Crafty Chipboard and I decided to add some pieces in to add further embellishments and texture.
I colored all the chipboard on this layout the same way, inking with Ranger Ink Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio and then I dabbed a bit of Vintage Gold Wax from Prima Marketing just to add some detail. I rarely create a project where I don’t incorporate flowers, so I added some Heartfelt Creations Sweet Peony flowers to this layout. I used Black archival ink to stamp them on Creative Scrapbooker Super Stock and I colored them by using Ranger Distress Inks, Antique Linen in the center and Cracked Pistachio on the outside.
Then add just a dab of Peacock Feathers on the outside edges These colors blended in perfectly for this project. I wanted to add a title and used the mini word Adore, also from 2 Crafty Chipboard. The frame on the photo was colored the same way and frames the photo beautifully. I added Sweet Peony flowers from Heartfelt Creations to each corner of my layout to keep your eye centered on that gorgeous photo of Boston!
I would love to see your projects using chipboard and handmade flowers, they add the perfect embellishment to any project.
