Hello, dear Creative Scrapbookers! I am Jayme Loge – a writer for Creative Scrapbooker Magazine and I am delighted to provide some inspiration for you today as I play with my Ranger Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Yupo Paper and Alcohol inks! I was at the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival in Edmonton last weekend, immersed in all kinds of inspiration. There were many things that piqued my creative interest, with all the creative people, stores, classes and make and takes, and I am going to share one thing that I’ve created since coming back home.
Ranger Tim Holtz Alcohol ink Yupo paper and alcohol inks were at the top of my list to play with, and I had a lot of fun creating some simple cards with cool alcohol ink backgrounds. I loved the celestial feel of the color palette I worked with and thought this sentiment was perfect! I simply stamped on the background with Ranger Archival Ink. I applied the alcohol ink by dripping the colors on the paper and running over them with a brayer then did a few touch ups with an ink applicator tool from Ranger and then heat setting the ink.
For my next card, I used some lovely die cuts to dress up the background. I love how the silver ink adds a lot of shine.
I wanted to try the alcohol inks on a different background, so I applied a thin layer of gesso onto some Creative Scrapbooker Super Stock, and then applied the ink with the ink applicator tool and blending solution. This background has less shine, but more texture. This card uses pieces from both the gesso and Ranger Tim Holtz Alcohol ink Yupo paper backgrounds.
And finally, I decided to add more texture to the background by using an embossing folder. After dry embossing, I carefully applied VersaMark over the raised design and heat embossed with some ‘Hologram Sparkle’ embossing powder from Emerald Creek Craft Supplies. I think this one is my favourite!
I hope you get some creative time soon, and that you are inspired to pull out your alcohol inks to try creating some backgrounds of your own!
