I just don’t even know what to say.
The world took a one-eighty and I am okay one day and not okay the next.
Mental wellness is high on the priority list.
For me, that means using scrapbooking as a tool to stay positive.
Using words to keep some control in a society where I have no control.
When I create, I can find happiness.
And right now, it’s more important than ever.
Today I am sharing the words and the page that I documented to help me move through my feelings.
“We made it to April.
We are more than two weeks in.
It still feels unbelievable.
It still feels scary.
But we keep trying to focus on the good.
There’s so much good.
And the sun will come out again.
My anxieties and worries are slowly reducing every day. There are still financial worries but largely we are not as worried about contracting the virus since we are following the “stay at home” and “wash your hands” mandates pretty rigorously. What does seem to be helping is that we are keeping informed. Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister comes on every day around noon so we sit to see what’s happening. The government of Newfoundland does the same thing. We listen to the benefits and what’s happening in the world. However, after a while, you start to feel your worries creep back in if you listen too long.
More than two weeks in and there’s no end in sight. Not in Newfoundland at least. Our province seems to be getting worse. But they have told us many times it will get worse before it gets better. All I can say is that we are all trying to adapt to our new normal but we are all struggling. For now, we know there are good times ahead and we will focus on that instead of slipping down a big dark hole.”
So, I encourage you whether its crafts, music or moving your body – find something that bring you joy. Stay safe, stay home as much as possible and remember we will come out the other side stronger than ever. Bringing you love from the very East Coast of Newfoundland.
Love always – Cathy
