Totally Tonal Layout - Noreen Smith

Hey there! It’s Noreen Smith here to share a fun layout using all three colorful variations of the new Totally Tonal papers and stickers from Creative Memories! I love these new tonal collections and how they match perfectly with CM’s exclusive new mill-run cardstock! During each quarter of 2023, CM will offer tonal collections in three different colors, so you’ll want to purchase them throughout the year so you can use them with ALL the coordinating cardstock and other collections! I love being able to mix and match perfectly! For Quarter 1 (January through March) the three Totally Tonal collections feature the colors Baby Blue, Island Waters and Purple Ice! Each set is gorgeous on it’s own, but I had so much fun using all three colorways in my layout today! My family visited a spectacular indoor light display back in December called “Glow YYC”. Of course, there were lots of opportunities to take photos throughout the event, but this photo of hubby and I in front of a multi-colored balloon wall was one of my favorites! I knew all three Totally Tonal colorways would be magic with this sweet selfie! Here are the steps to create this be-hue-tiful layout!

Start with a piece of the dark blue ombre paper from the Totally Tonal Baby Blue Designer Paper Pack. Gut an 8” square from the center of the paper using the 12-inch Trimmer. Adhere an 11.5” square of White Cardstock over top of the hollow frame to create the base page. Use the inside track of the diamond template from the Gemstones CCS Patterns and the Red Blade to cut out a diamond shapes from the leftover 8” square. Repeat with the Blue Blade to get a smaller diamond. Choose a variety of the patterned papers from each Totally Tonal paper pack and cut a total of NINE large diamonds and EIGHT small diamonds from them. Arrange the nine large diamonds in an even circular pattern on the base page. Adhere with Repositionable Adhesive so it’s easy to make any necessary adjustments. Arrange the eight smaller diamonds on top so that the points are in between the point of the larger diamonds. Mount a 7” x 5” photo on top of all the diamonds. I love the layered look, so I matted my photo on additional White Cardstock then used strips of Foam Tape to mount it so it would have some dimension. TIP: I prefer using Foam Tape over Foam Squares when adhering large photos or embellishments as it provides a stronger and larger base! Then start adding a variety of the Totally Tonal stickers, matching the color of the sticker to the color of the diamond underneath. I did place some stickers directly onto the surface of the layout and used Foam Squares to pop some of them up. I love this look! Finally I used a soft brush and the ink from the Pure Blue, Spring Green and Orchid Purple Dual-Tip Pens mixed with a little water to splatter some coordinating color onto the white base page. Such an easy and fun way to bring all the colors together! Here are a couple of close-ups so you can see how well the papers, stickers and even the ink splatters all work together!
