Hi everyone,Kim here ? Thanks for checking into the CSM blog today. I just wanted to share this month’s sketch, designed by Kelly Klapstein. This month’s sketch was designed with card making in mind, ‘tis the season of making, giving and receiving cards! It’s a great sketch! I however used it as a starting point for a layout. That’s is the cool thing about sketches…they are simply a starting point for creativity. I used Close to My Heart’s “City Sidewalk” collection. I ADORE everything about this collection, it’s full of fun, whimsical papers, die cuts and glittery accents and also has a corresponding Cricut cartridge to keep the fun going strong! I decided to make a gift card holder while I had all this fun product out, I’ll need a few more before December 25th! As you can see, I did not follow the sketch for the card…but plan to…

Kim here with a cute card share before I drop it in the mail! It’s no secret among our team that I love Heartfelt Creations Under the Sea collection! The colours, the stamps and dies speak to my love of all things ocean. Here’s a quick card I put together for my Aunt’s upcoming birthday using patterned paper and dies from the collection and some Core’dinations cardstock. So many different products were used to pull the card together, let me share them in a few detail shots. I have used Clearsnap’s Smooch and Top Boss to add colour and a bit more depth  to the flower. Jackie showed you this technique recently in a CSM Live on Facebook (Oct. 12/2016). I couldn’t’ resist adding some Ranger Stickles to the Seahorse and fish fins for some added sparkle and iridescence. And one of my favourite things to add to my projects lately…irRESISTable…

Some layouts are harder than others to create. Lots of things can stall the process…not having the right product, not enough time, not being inspired or lack of creative mojo. Though the memory in my layout is a happy one, it was tough to create because our dear friend Christy passed away in August. I wanted this page to honour who she was to me…a creative soul, friend, teacher. I hold dear to my heart the laughs, conversations and art that were shared during this art retreat in the Spring. Supplies: Magenta Nuance powders, Simple Stories patterned paper & wooden heart, Core’dinations vellum & glitter cardstock, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and Kelly Klapstein’s word stamps were perfect for what I wanted to say. Creative Scrapbooker Magazine is honoured to announce that we have started an ART Scholarship in Christy’s name. For those of you interested in honouring Christy Riopel and helping her legacy of…

Hello! Kim here! Just a quick share of my layout inspired by the November Sketchy Challenge! When I first saw the sketch designed by Kelly Klapstein, I instinctively thought of columns of journaling! It’s very simple, but I LOVE how it turned out! I designed the text columns in Photoshop Elements 14, printed on a piece of 12×12 cardstock and then added my pictures, paper and embellishments! Supplies used: Stampin’ Up cardstock, Day to Day stamps, ink & marker  /  Graphic 45 patterned paper from Enchanted Forest collection  /  Simple Stories Life in Color wooden veneers  /  Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L  /  American Crafts Thickers When was the last time you used our Sketchy Challenge? It’s such a great place to start the creative process. Of course we’d LOVE for you to also share to our Sketchy Gallery, to inspire others! Be sure to get your copy of the Fall…

Hello Friday! Hello WHERE YOU CREATE! We took a break from these posts in the summer as submissions started to quiet down. We are ready to get back to sharing your creative spaces again, but need to put you to work! Go take pictures, tell us about your space and send it in! We will start the ball rolling again with our design team member Tracy McLennon. When we last shared Tracy’s creative space she described it as follows: “My crafting area would be best described as compact, organized and chaotic…all at the same time.” Here is what she has to share now. Tracy McLennon here, hi! We’ve recently moved, and as much as I don’t LOVE moving and all of the work it brings. I do love that I got to set up a new craft room, in a much bigger space than I’ve had. I thought I…

Happy Tuesday! Kim here with this week’s Tuesday with the Team! Are you getting used to dark nights yet? Not me! I apologize in advance with the light in my pictures, my house was so dark and gloomy on Sunday, plus it was rainy so I couldn’t even go outside! So with shorter days, comes the knowledge that Christmas is not far away. I am the world’s worst procrastinator when it comes to Christmas cards…so I thought I’d get a head start with this project…or at least get on track! I had so much fun with Stampin’ Up’s Birthday Fiesta and Fa-la-la-la Friends stamp sets and their matching dies! Cards and gift bags were simply made with basic stamping, die cutting and layering. I coloured the images with my Stampin’ Up markers…I have had them for a long time and they continue to be “juicy” and work so well. Definitely…

Hello Creative Scrapbookers! Kim here today; with a layout created with all thing Close To My Heart! I used our September Sketchy Challenge as a starting point for my layout, Kelly continues to come up with brilliant designs for our monthly challenge. I used the cardstock from the CTMH Adventure Combo Pack, patterned paper from the CTMH Adventure Fundamentals as well stickers, stamps, ink and the newest CTMH Cricut cartridge ‘Flower Market’. These flower embellishments were cut and layered using a design from CTMH Flower Market Cricut cartridge. There are so many fun images on this cartridge, I know it will become a well-loved addition to my stash. If you didn’t already know, Creative Scrapbooker Magazine is hosting a give-away for anyone posting a layout, inspired by one of our sketches, to the NEW Sketchy Gallery. Upload your layout before midnight on November 31, 2016 for your chance to win.…
