Hello! Kim here today, I love when I get to share what Iโve been up to on the blog. Iโve been having fun playing with Distress Oxide inks, I ordered an entire set after seeing them at Creativation 2017 in January. They are easy to layer, emboss and stamp with. The icing on the cake is the magic that happens when you add a spritz or two of water to the mix! Here is the fun Easter card I put together this past weekend. I used some of my favourite Ranger/Tim Holtzย products and an alpha die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs. My background was created by adding layers of Distress Oxide ink to water colour paper. I dried each layer with my heat gun before adding the next layer to keep the colours separate. I pounced a bit of the ink through a stencil for added interest as well as…
Kim here today to share my take on the March Sketchy Challenge. This fun sketch was designed by the talented Kerry Engel; who shared several takes of this sketch in our Sketchy Gallery. I choose to work with this sketch while on retreat a few weeks back. I am not a productive scrapbooker at retreats because I socialize and enjoy the company around me, I find it hard to create with so much going on but wouldnโt miss them for the worldโฆretreats are just plain good for the soul! I used paper and die-cuts from Kaisercraftโs โMe Collectionโ. It was the perfect retreat paperโฆI grabbed 3 Chameleons pens and randomly coloured some of the doodles on the pageโฆall while keeping up with the stories going on around me! I grabbed my Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L tape runner to put everything in place! My title is made from older Tim Holtz…
So? Are you wearing any green today? Will you be drinking any green beer? Will someone kiss you just because youโre Irish? Happy Saint Patrickโs Day! So much to celebrate on this day even if you arenโt Irish, because we are just three more sleeps until the start of springโฆwinter is almost behind us; or at least that is what my brain thinks! The days are brighter and whatever snow comes now, shouldnโt last longโฆweโve got this! Time to get to business! We are thrilled to share Joanne McClintockโs creative space today. You will love her organized space! Hi Kim. I thought I would share my craft space today. Iโm quite proud of it; but it is and will always be, a work in progress. Iย try to add objects that inspire me, so it is ever changing. My fabulous hubby agreed to move our eldest son downstairs so I…
Kim here with my take on the February sketch. This is not my best work, but I had fun with this layout. I feel like I have been in a creative funk since January and am slowly coming off the couch back into my craft room! I am NOT a lover of winter and the darkness that comes with it! Working with a sunset picture seemed a good choice! I just let myself play and put ZERO pressure on the results. I added a thin layer of Dina Wakley Media Gesso to my CSM Superstock and then โmessyโ coloured my circles with Distress Crayons. Once my colour was on my page, I used a water brush to blend it and even it out. My spiral line and writing was done with a Dylusions Paint Pen โ I LOVE THESE!!!!! I used a Magenta stencil with Black Soot Distress Ink for…
Here we are at the middle of February already! Does anyone else feel 2017 is moving along pretty fast? Iโm pretty confident our readers on the east coast may feel differently, the amount of snow that has fallen in areas is simply crazy! Hereโs hoping someone else gets to shovel and YOU get to spend some quality snow days in your craft room! After lots of CREATIVATON 2017 shares and our BIG CHA prize giveaway, we are ready to share some more WHERE YOU CREATE spaces! This week, DโArcy Henson shares her bright and organized space! Attached are photos of my craft room. I have two girls; Betty, 11 and Ruby, 8. We spend quite a bit of time in here doing all sorts of creative activities – painting, scrapbooking, DIYs, sewing and a little homework too. This space was originally intended for a formal dining room but we prefer…
Being asked to join Jackie at Rangerโs CHA media release was pretty exciting until my alarm went off so early that morning. Tired eyes were soon open with excitement at all the fabulous new releases being shared at Rangerโs booth. They had four stations set up, and we got to spend about 20 minutes at each one with Rangerโs Signature Designers; Tim Holtz, Dina Wakley, Dyan Reaveley and Susan Lenart Kazmerโฆpretty easy to get just a tad star struck! Each proved to be down to earth and all had a wonderful sense of humourโฆmade you love them that much more! First up was Tim Holtz. Lots of buzz at his table with the release of his Oxide Ink Pads, new Distress Crayons sets, Crayon Tin storage, 1 oz. size of Collage Medium, storage jars and Woodgrain Cardstock. The new Oxide Ink Pads are the next generation of Distress Inks, combining…
Hello! Kim here again for a Where You Create share! I am really happy to share todayโs space with you because I think it represents a big percentage of people who scrapbook! We all love dedicated spaces with lots of great organizing ideasโฆbut itโs just not the reality for everyone. I like to think of our creative space as aย vehicleโฆit doesnโt matter what you drive as long as it gets you to the destination! Our destinationโฆcompleted layouts and stories told! Letโs take a peek into Angie Storlieโs creative space! Iโm sure you will agreeโฆitโs pretty SWEET! Hi Kim, I am a “kitchen table” scrapbooker who keeps my stuff in a big Rubbermaid tub and a 12×12 paper organizer; in the bottom of my closet.ย While I would love to have a dedicated scrap space someday, there is something great about keeping my stash to a minimum and having it portable.ย …
Hello and Happyย Friday! Kim here today with a Friday post. I enjoy these Friday blog posts; Jackie gives me this wonderful forum to share with you. Over the next 12 months weโll mix it up with what we like to call CSM Spotlights or Where You Create.ย Today Iโd like to share the creative space of Ineke Bruggeman. Ineke shared this email with me last summer and Iโm happy to have the opportunity to share her space with you. I will make an educated guess that Ineke is from the Netherlands, please correct me if I am wrong! โHi Kim, I would like to show you my scrap room, or as my family says โScrapadiseโ! About 2 months ago [Spring 2016], we started redecorating my room, and this is now how it looks. We have created a lot of space in my room. It is light and I love…
Hi everyone, Kim here today. I just finished working on a layout using October 2016, sketchy challenge. If my memory is goodโฆthat means I have used every sketch from 2016! Bring on 12 more for 2017! I LOVE them. Here is Octoberโs sketch; my starting point. My completed layout below makes me smile, I love the Simple Stories product I usedโฆItโs whimsical and sweet. My layout started like many of mine do, on a piece of Creative Scrapbooker Magazineโs Superstock. I love to build up from the basics and seem to be drawn to the contrast the white gives me when playing with other products! My first layer was created using a TCW stencil and Clearsnapโs Colorbox chalk inks. From there, I positioned my picture. I will usually just add adhesive to the center back of my photo leaving the edges free to slip embellishments under. I added several little…
Hi everyone,Kim here ? Thanks for checking into the CSM blog today. I just wanted to share this monthโs sketch, designed by Kelly Klapstein. This monthโs sketch was designed with card making in mind, โtis the season of making, giving and receiving cards! Itโs a great sketch! I however used it as a starting point for a layout. Thatโs is the cool thing about sketchesโฆthey are simply a starting point for creativity. I used Close to My Heartโs โCity Sidewalkโ collection. I ADORE everything about this collection, itโs full of fun, whimsical papers, die cuts and glittery accents and also has a corresponding Cricut cartridge to keep the fun going strong! I decided to make a gift card holder while I had all this fun product out, Iโll need a few more before December 25th! As you can see, I did not follow the sketch for the cardโฆbut plan to…
