Hello Creative Scrapbookers! Kim Gowdy here with a simple but fun idea, that we have visited before. I often like to find ways to bring trends into the stash I already have if possible. There is no denying that adult colouring is a huge trend! Here is my twist from my own scrapbook stash. I made these cards by stamping images from my Impression Obsession stamps onto Core’dinations Glitter Paper. Use a multi-surface ink like Clearsnap ColorBox Chalk Inks, I used Charcoal. Let it dry…it WILL take longer than on regular paper…be patient. Once it’s dry I grabbed my Chameleon Pens and coloured away…it was so fun! The alcohol inks flowed beautifully on the glitter paper and dried very quickly. Here is a third quick card I made while I had the glitter cardstock out. I took the arrows from this Stampin’ Up/Sizzix die set and cut them out of the…

Welcome Friday! Three more sleeps and we can officially say we have made it through January…another month of winter under our belts! We have been enjoying an unseasonably warm week here in Alberta, I know it creates a false sense of spring…but I LOVE it regardless! Hope you have been enjoying all the Taste of CHA posts. We can hardly control our excitement at the thought of someone winning such a HUGE prize – over $1000.00 in brand new products. Make sure you get your entries in EVERY DAY! This week we are sharing some pictures of Karen Giordano’s scrapbooking space. Her space is jam-packed full of scrapbooking fun! Wait until you see how organized it is! Here we go! Hi Kim, My husband, with help from my son, created this amazing space for me!  I am so blessed and love all the “custom features”.  They did all this…

Hi ALL! Kim Gowdy here with a quick card share! Trying to get my head out of winter; so I’ve had fun creating a card, using this leaf stamp and sentiment stamp from Magenta. The card kind of reminds me of a tropical destination [NOT on my calendar] and warms my winter heart. All of the colour applied to the card was done with Sakura’s CRAY-PAS oil pastels and some yellow was added to the background with Sakura’s Koi watercolor brush pens. The oil pastels were quite fun to play with. They layer and blend so smoothly. I added a few colours and used a piece of paper towel on my finger to blend and kept layering until I was happy…SO EASY. The colors are soft yet vibrant…I look forward to more creative time with them. Have a CREATIVE day!

Hello! Kim here with a layout I worked on after Christmas. I used our January Sketchy Challenge, designed by Kelly Klapstein. It was a great jumping point to get back in the groove after a creative hiatus over the holidays. For my projects I used the Bo Bunny “Whiteout” Collection along with elements from the co-ordinating Ephemera pack available with the collection. It was all part of a monthly kit I purchase from Scrap Shotz out of Calgary. I laughed when I saw Kelly’s layout…she used the same collection! I promise this was by coincidence [great minds think alike…] Here is a quick detail shot of some of the yumminess found in this collection…a little glitter for winter layouts is perfect! The word stickers are older Tim Holtz idea-ology stickers that never go out of style. For my journalling I used a Micron Pigment Marker by Sakura. These markers come…

HAPPY NEW YEAR! This is our first Where You Create since 2015 and I am happy to be back with some more great spaces to share. Hopefully everyone survived the busy days of December and life has returned “normal” once again. This is an exciting year of growth for Creative Scrapbooker Magazine, one that started with our new name and the exciting news that we will be available in Barnes and Noble when our Spring Issues is out! I am beyond thrilled to be working [playing!] with this fabulous group of friends and look forward to reaching out beyond Canada’s borders to a global audience! Let’s grab a moment together and step into a well-organized creative space! Thanking Rene Wahl in advance…for letting us in! Good morning! Last spring I had posted pictures of my newly renovated scrapbook room and some friends told me I should send them to you.…

Happy December! How did we get to the 11th already??? Less than two more weeks and we get to Winter Solstice…I crave the daylight coming back to us! Those celebrating Christmas are surely getting organized and decorating for the season, I love driving home and seeing all the lights! To our Jewish readers, I hope your Hanukkah celebrations were wonderful! ‘Tis the  season of celebration for so many of us…busy, busy times! I hope you can take a moment to quiet your schedule and join us with another creative space share! Jamie Hansen is opening her doors for us to peek  inside! My space started to come to life about 8 years ago as my husband and I started our log home building journey. It was mentioned once along the way that the space would be the master bedroom; and with a loud laugh and a turn of the…

Happy Sunday! Another Christmas card share from our design team. Today’s card was created by Kim Gowdy using all Stampin’ Up products. Kim also used our December sketch as inspiration for this card. Let’s take a peek to see what fun products Kim used for her card: Visions of Santa stamp set and Merry Moments Designer Series Paper Stack! Hope your inspired to try some new products and and to use our sketches! Keep checking in for more Christmas cards designed by our team!

It’s another WHERE YOU CREATE Friday! We have a great space to share with you today with lots of pictures! Terri Kocher has been kind enough to let us in and tell us about her space! Enjoy the view and leave a kind word or two in the messages is you are inclined to do so, we love when you interact with us! I have recently been laid off of my job as an office manager and have taken up crafting as a hopeful, full-time job.  I am a CTMH consultant and am currently developing designs for workshops. I have made a couple of scrap books, but get overwhelmed by what I haven’t done, so I make cards. I love the [almost] instant gratification I get from making cards.  I am honoured to be a small part of my client’s special occasions. It makes my heart happy. When I first started crafting,…

Happy Friday! Look at us already almost half way through November. Despite our darker days, time seems to speed up from now until New Year’s Day! Funny to think time stopped as a child waiting for Christmas to come…as a parent I’d LOVE to cash in a few extra bonus days just to get things ready! Before our brains start working overtime…let’s take some time to visit a gorgeous creative space! Sharon Colpitts has been kind enough to let us in; you are going to love her bright space! I wanted to show you where I create in my home.    After my kids moved out, I took over the “Great Room” space on our top floor.  It’s not quite big enough to fit all my “stuff” but it’s perfect for most things I use, it’s bright and open and it’s all mine.  I have been scrapbooking for about…

I’m getting all caught up with my Sketchy Challenges…it feels good! I love working with sketches, it takes the toughest part of scrapbooking out of the picture-the design! Once that part is dealt with the creative juices can flow. Here is our September Sketch, designed by Kelly Klapstein, that was the starting point for my page. For this layout I wanted to play with my newly purchased Nuance Pigment Powders from Magenta. It was the first time I played with them after hearing about them through Christy Riopel at our Edmonton carnival. They are FUN to say the least and I look forward to using them more and learning other applications with them. I masked off three boxes and used the Nuance powders to colour them…I really should have used a small amount of Gesso on my cardstock, but I forgot…it’s a learning process! Had I used the Gesso my…
