Hello Everyone!  I have been having a lot of fun lately with the new Tim Holtz Distress Crayons from Ranger. You might know that I’ve been slightly obsessed with watercolour and creating watercolour effects with different products.  So I used the Distress Crayons to design this Mother’s Day card. Here are the Tim Holtz (Ranger) supplies I started with to create the stamped flowers: Distress Watercolor Cardstock, Waterbrush, Collage Brush, Distress Collage Medium, the Distress Crayon (Seedless Preserves). I brushed the Distress Collage Medium on the Distress Watercolor paper using the Collage Brush.  Just remember to clean your brush well right after and don’t let the medium dry on it. Let the medium on the paper dry completely and then scribble some distress crayon colour onto it. Why did I add the medium first? I find the Distress Crayons move better and dissolve into a watercolour more easily, but…

Hello Creative Scrapbookers! Jayme Logehere with a fun post inspired by Kerry Engel’s ‘Crazy Bird’ sign. I have been enjoying these little birds on all sorts of things, but when I saw Kerry’s sign and the quote she used, I knew I had to create one of my own. I built mine on a 8.5×11 canvas. After covering the canvas with gesso and adding some ‘bumps’ with texture paste through a stencil, I covered the background with some delicious Dylusions paints from Ranger. I love! love! love! how bright and vibrant the colours are. Once the paint was dry I sprinkled some darker Nuance powders from Magenta over top and spritzed it with water. I rubbed a little bit of brown Dylusions paint around the edges, applying it with a baby wipe. I set the canvas aside to dry and stamped my Crazy Birds (Tim Holtz for Stampers Anonymous) and Paris background…

Hello again, Nicole here and I am back to share this woody tag I made to show off the Sizzix Evergreen die.  I love to get the most out of my dies and think of different ways I can use them.  I love to create layers and texture along the way. I spritzed watercolor paper water then sprayed Ranger Distress Spray Stain peeled paint, lucky clover and twisted citron.  I cut the greens from the tattered pinecone die and added a few forest moss Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock greens too.  Then I glued them all to a piece of matboard then ran it through on the Evergreen die.  Creating this 3D Tree. I stamped the Kraft tag with using picket fence distress paint then inked the edges with ground espresso.  With some scrap inked up watercolor paper I cut out “Moments” from the Handwritten Journey Thinlit.  I used this Idea-Ology Flashcard trimmed…

Flip Frame Calendar by Nicole Wright – as seen on page 84 of our Spring 2016 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine I’m back to share a project I was inspired by a couple months ago.  Nicole here and you’ll want to check out One Lucky Day’s awesome Flip Frame with 2016 Calendar pages.  I printed off the fun calendar pages and then went to town decorating each month!  Here is my take and tutorial on this fun Flip Frame Calendar. I started by cutting 3 ¼”x 5” pieces of chipboard measuring 3/8” in on the sides.  I marked each of the 12 pieces and punched out the holes. I measured and cut this gorgeous Heartfelt Creations Everyday Hero paper pack.  I used Crafty Power Tape to adhere all the paper to the chipboard. I distressed all the edges with my sanding block then inked with Ranger…

Hello everyone let me introduce myself, I’m Nicole Wright. I’m new to the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine Team and I’m thrilled to be creating for you.  I love all things vintage, grungy especially creating 3D Projects.  I love using my collection of Sizzix dies so you’ll be seeing a lot of that from me.  For my first project for Tuesday with the Team I decided to create something to honor Remembrance Day. I started with Sizzix Jumbo Tattered Floral for the Poppy creating 4 flowers for a full Poppy. Then I grabbed my Magenta Nuance Powders.  This is my first time using them and WOW…a little goes a long way!  Using a dry paint brush a couple flicks of powder onto watercolor paper and spritz with water. The Magenta Nuance give a bold vibrant look to this Poppy! I used my heat gun to dry the flowers.  To create the…

Welcome to our guest blogger, Laurie Finch, who is sharing her love of Pocket Letters! Today I wanted to tell you about my newest obsession – Pocket Letters! And specifically, mixed media pocket letters. Have you seen these? Little trading card sized pockets of creative fun, sent around the world through a network of like-minded artists. You craft cards to fit in the nine pockets of a trading card protector sheet, slip some extra crafting goodies and a nice, chatty letter in the back and it folds neatly in 3 and fits in a standard business size envelope for mailing. I love this idea! It’s like combining all the best parts of penpals, papercrafting, RAK (random acts of kindness) and art work in one! So let’s get started! I taped an 8 x 11” piece of heavyweight watercolour paper to my work surface so that the wet mediums don’t make…

Hi everyone! Karen Ellis here. If you know me, or my articles in the magazine, you’ll know that I love my Gelli Plate. I love creating one of a kind papers for my cards, collages and projects. It’s an incredible amount of fun to make your own designs and I love discovering new ways to make marks and uniquely designed prints. Recently I spent the weekend in the studio channeling my inner kindergarten student… creating texture tools out of some items I had laying around the shop.  Here are some examples of what I created and samples of the prints they made. 1. Buttons – glue buttons to some foam and stamp away!! 2. Elastic Bands (and a little Saran Wrap) – Wrap the elastics around a play rolling pin (I got mine at the dollar store). Tear off a bit of Saran Wrap and wrap that around the…
