Hello everyone – Sally Lynn MacDonald here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. I love art journaling – but I really love capturing memories in my journal. The hardest part about keeping a journal is getting started and that is where I’ve come up with a way of getting past the fear of the blank page and freeing myself to create by monoprinting on the blank pages. My favorite travel journal is a landscape watercolor paper journal. I like this journal for the size of and the type of paper inside the journal. To start, I will choose a color scheme that complements the travel theme but doesn’t overwhelm. These are backgrounds, so they need to be somewhat subtle. For my colors I chose: Golden’s Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold (a sunny color!) Golden’s Titan Green Pale (a very light, almost white green) Golden’s Titanium White (pure, bright white) Pebeo’s Iridescent Blue…
Once again, Betty Hung has illustrated a card for us to download, print and colour! December’s Christmas card is beautiful! Betty used the same colouring techniques with Tombow Dual brush pens as she did last month. Isn’t that plaid effect on the Merry Christmas wonderful? Here is what the card looks like when you download it and print it…in 8.5 x 11″ size. Then you can cut it out and colour! Just click HERE to download your free colouring card, and share with us on Facebook when you’re finished. To see more of Betty’s artwork and colouring techniques, click HERE to visit her blog. Hello! Today I am sharing a mini album I created by repurposing the Happy, Happy Christmas My Crush pages from Close to My Heart! The Happy, Happy Christmas My Crush pages come in a package of 30 double-sided, loose printed pages, and 3-ring hole punched, measuring 8 3/8” x 6 7/8”. They are designed to be used in the Everyday Life albums so you can whip up a quick album, but I wanted to change it up a bit…. check out my 6”x6” mini album. I added embellishments to my mini album from the City Sidewalks Complements, and a few Clear Sparkles here and there, and added colour to some of the Clear Sparkles using green and red ShinHan Touch Twin markers. What a fun way to create something completely unique! Well, that is it for me for today. If you don’t have a copy of the new Close To…
I made an ornament. A deliciously cute ornament. The cutest part is that if you look closely, you can see a sweet Christmas tree inside. This ornament was created in the wee hours of the morning like many of my projects while I was “face-timing” with a friend. Although I had the idea of making an ornament using the Stampin’ Up! Home Sweet Home die, she came up with the idea for the mini tree inside. She’s a genius. Note: These brush trees were bought from Target in the USA when I was visiting last month. How I miss Target in Canada. Whenever I cross the border, you can see me filling up my bags with crates, twine, wire baskets, etc. Let us now bow our heads to mourn the loss of Target. In order to create this ornament, much of the work is done for you as it’s a…
Sweet & Spooky Halloween Layouts by Karla Yungwirth Hi there crafty friends! Karla here today from Creative Love Affair, and I am so so super excited to be a Guest Designer today for the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog! It is an amazing honor! Today, I’m sharing some Halloween photos I’ve scrapbooked from a few years ago using the Bo Bunny Wonderfully Wicked Collection. It definitely is wonderful and spooky, and so fun to play with! These pictures were taken when my now 9 year old daughter, Amie, was 4 – and this year, before we even looked at these pics, my now 4 year old, Erica, decided to wear this exact costume – which her cousin had worn when she was this age! Now, to find those photos! That’s one of the reasons I love scrapbooking – looking through older pictures, remembering, and getting family talking about what they remember.…
Today I am sharing some items I made using the new Jeepers Creepers paper packet from Close To My Heart! I happened to have recently purchased a pencil that came in a little test tube style container from Staples, an office supply store. Part of the proceeds from these pencils go towards “Me To We” (formerly known as Free The Children), which was a program my son got involved in a couple of years ago through the middle school he was attending at the time. Anyways, back to a closer look at my little project… Cute, right? The test tube could be filled with little candies, too. And don’t you just love the little bats? I cut them out using Black Glitter Paper and the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge, both from Close To My Heart. For the test tube holder, I found instructions to make it here at Splitcoaststampers: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/testtubeholder/ The…

“What a beautiful blessing you are to me.” It was perfect. This saying says it all. In eight simple words. I am blessed to have two beautiful women in my life that I can call my mother. My mom and my mother-in-law are beautiful humans that consistently look to the positive. They are rocks under pressure. No matter what problem I bring to them, they make life seem like lollipops and rainbows. They find the answer. They know how to make that pit in your tummy float away. Somehow these two ladies were raised to put one foot in front of the other and survive by looking at their glass half full. I wanted to make them a card that was as beautiful as they are. But I had limited supplies and I had limited creativity. When I have a creativity block, I find it easiest to play…
Today on our blog we welcome Lynn Shokoples, who is on the BoBunny Design Team, and loves creating faith-based projects! Hi Everyone! I’m Lynn Shokoples from BoBunny, and today I am here to share a Faith Journal project I am working on, using the BoBunny BELIEVE collection. Faith Journaling has become very popular in the last year. People are journaling their faith in Bibles, Planners, Journals, Cards and in notebooks. In future blog posts, I will be sharing with you a few different ways that I am journaling my faith. Today I am sharing my BoBunny Believe Prayer Journal with you and a video tutorial showing how I put it all together. For my daily prayer journal, I made a little faux dori . For the cover I laminated a sheet of the patterned paper and then started working on the booklets. The booklets were made with the 12×12 patterned…
