Β Itβs funny how inspiration and creativity works sometimes. I woke up early – set out with a plan to show you some cool projects βon a diagonalβ. Iβve been obsessed with projects on a diagonal line lately and figured I would find some mojo in the tank. Summer usually takes the wind out of my βcrafty sailsβ (Hardy har. Get it?.. no?.. I am in a boat?.. Yes?.. oh, nevermind.) Then something happened. I created a watercolour effect on a diagonalβ¦ butβ¦ I couldnβt find any of my new stamps. Not. The. One. On the MIA List: Every single 2015 Stampinβ Up! set I purchased. That made no sense. They must be somewhereβ¦ (probably with my second set of car keys) In my haste, I found my Traveller stamp set. I loved this stamp set so much that I initially thought I should order two sets βjust in caseβ.…
Today we welcome guest blogger Laurel Seabrook from British Columbia, who will share some of her designs using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. Hi everyone, I am Laurel Seabrook and I have been on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L design team for a couple of months now. I am an avid paper crafter, I love making cards, scrapbooks and altered art. One thing that is common in all of them is that they need adhesive, and I love the assortment that Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L offers. Today I have a couple of cards to share. I teach grade one and I like to give the students a handmade card on their birthday. The other day I used up my last card so I decided I had better get busy building up that stash. My normal style is very layered with lots of bits. However, grade ones are not the most careful…
Today we welcome guest blogger Adel Otto who is sharing her beautiful Bible art journaling. Does part of your personal mission statement include “Love my family. Live my faith” ? As a scrapbooker, it can be easy to use your creative energy and talents to record lovely colourful memories for your family. I began to wonder how I could use those same gifts to grow in my faith and start living it. I happened to stumble across Facebook and Instagram communities with the hashtag Bible Journaling. These ladies (and a few men) were using their creative talents to dive into the Scriptures to apply color, lettering, scrapbook supplies and mixed media. By using my Bible as the journal, every page has multiple points of inspiration for art journaling. I dabbled, and then dove in. The saying “I was created to create” took on significance as I used my creative energy…
Today we welcome Barb Brookbank, an Albertan photographer who elevates her photos into works of art! Hi! Iβm Barb Brookbank, and Iβm thrilled to be a guest blogger at Canadian Scrapbooker. Iβm a wife, mom, and grandma, living in the beautiful province of Alberta. Iβm the blogger behind Keeping With the Times where I share my love of food, photography, and life. You can also find me on Instagram @keepingwiththetimes. I started scrapbooking in 2003 after my first grandson was born and scrapped traditionally for many years. It was a great fit since I had been making greeting cards and loved working with paper and glue. However, life changes and evolves, and I became interested in digital scrapping after purchasing a copy of Photoshop Elements 4. The box included βLearn Digital Scrapbookingβ by Linda Sattgast of Digital Scrapper. Learning Photoshop took time, and a lot of work, but when it…
Today we welcome guest blogger Krista Ritskes, who has some wonderful Close to My Heart projects to share! Hello Canadian Scrapbooker fans! My name is Krista Ritskes and Iβve been a Close To My Heart Independent Consultant since 2007. Iβm excited for the chance to share my artwork and love of CTMH products here on the blog. I live in Oshawa, Ontario and am married to my Pharmacist hubby, Chris. We have 2 kids. Our daughter is thrilled to have just hit double digits and our son is 7. I discovered scrapbooking when my daughter was born and I had decided not to go back to my teaching job. When I was pregnant with my son, I found Close To My Heart and joined up, never having touched a stamp! Now, I can hardly create any sort of project without including ink and stamps. There are a lot of things…
Itβs 7am and Iβve just gotten home from an early morning bootcamp. Iβve never understood βthose peopleβ that are up at the crack of dawn until now. I get it. Iβve showered, exercised and I already have a load of laundry in the washer while the children are still dreaming of lollipops and rainbows. Productivity at its finest. But the best part of this new routine is that I have a few moments of peace with a steaming hot cup of coffee before chaos ensues. I usually catch up on some blog reading or update my to do lists. Today is a little different and quite delightful. I have a brand new Stampinβ Up! catalogue to devour. I will be making a large wish list with my new βbe amazingβ pen and it feels like Christmas. You got it.Β June 2ndΒ is βNew Catalogue Release Day.β I was lucky enough to have…
Today on our blog we welcome Gabrielle PollaccoΒ from Ontario, a talented scrapbooker and crafter who designs for Bo Bunny! Hi there! My name is Gabrielle Pollacco. I’ve been on the Bo Bunny design team for about 5 years now. Why would I stay on a design team for so long, you may ask? You just have to see their gorgeous papers and products to know the answer to that! Every new release brings beautiful collections that just speak to me. For example, a few days ago I received the three new mid-season releases. I had a full day’s work planned, but as soon as I started digging into the lovely papers and embellishments, I literally dropped all I was doing and got to playing with the new Boardwalk collection. I just fell in love with the weathered wood paper, and thought I would use that as the backdrop for my…
One of the best parts of going to a crop is getting to play with our friends’ supplies. Last March, on the first night of our weekend crop at Pigeon Lake, I spied this row ofΒ Aladine Izinks Pigment Ink distributed by Clearsnap. That night I dreamed aboutΒ ClearnspΒ Izinks all night. I literally dreamed about them. Dripping them actually! I was so excited to get my hands on the Izink pigment inks that I woke up before everyone else. I used Canadian Scrapbooker Super StockΒ (CSS) as my base, and as I wasn’t sure how the Izink would drip I used gesso on my second page. The first page was naked. Newport Beach layout: Izink on Naked CSS I’m not really sure what verb best describes the action required to place Izink on your page. It’s not really a drop. It’s a mashup of a plop and a dab… itβs…
Since Spring has yet to be sprung here in Newfoundland, I found myself at a scrapbook retreat last weekend. Many of you are likely to be doing this over the next month. One way to prepare yourself for a crop is to create kits out of your own stash. Ainβt nobody got time for that. But kits that are already created for youβ¦ I can do that. Gosh, even YOU can do that! I tossed my Hooray Itβs Your Day Simply Created kit by Stampinβ Up! as well as my Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper in an organized fashion into my crop bag and off I went. Note that the Painted Blooms DSP was showcased here last month β be sure to check that out if you missed it. Yes, I am still hoping that by playing with flowery paper, a beautiful flower will magically appear on my front lawn…
Today on our blog we welcome our guest Cari Locken, who is part of the Simple Stories Design Team! Hello to all you Canadian Scrapbooker fans!Β I’m thrilled to be here on the CS blog today because it holds a special place in my heart. Β I was a part of the original design team when the magazine first came out in the winter of 2005!! Β I still remember Jackie emailing me and asking me if I would like to be a part of something very exciting!! Β After many years of creating for the magazine (almost 10 years!!) Β I decided it was time for me to leave last year as my life and job related activities were taking me in other directions, and my time was limited in terms of scrapbooking. I did, however, continue on with some amazing companies out there and one of them is Simple Stories. Β I’m…
