Happy New Year! Kim here with a quick layout share! It felt so good to ‘clean up’ Christmas within my house and get back to some routine. By the end of December I have had quite enough of too much food, too much shopping, too much wine, so many events, so many to-dos…this introvert needs to cocoon a bit in January! I managed to find some time to play in my craft room last night! YAH! One thing that has become a ‘thing’ for me is to gather all my Christmas cards and scrapbook/collage bits and parts of them into a layout. It’s a great way to hold on to the sentiments, photos and fun images of the cards from friends and family. Documenting December in 2021 was hard. When Omicron hit midway through December it felt like a crushing blow to my everything. Like many of you, I had high expectations of the pandemic being behind us so when Omicron came along, it felt so heavy, it hurt. It remains a time I don’t want to document as I immediately feel the panic and anxiety creeping back. Being a business owner, it was absolutely gut wrenching. That black cloud continued into 2022 and I still feel those weights today as we continue to claw our way out of that black hole. Needless to say, my December 2021 album did not get completed. However, my children who are now 12, 10 and 2 look at these December Daily albums every year especially to determine exactly whose turn it is to put the star on the tree. For today’s blogpost, I’m sharing with you how to create this Merry Christmas Gift Box which uses the Simple Vintage Rustic Christmas Collection from Simple Stories.Adhesives from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L AND gift box from Jennifer Edwardson Creative Inc. AND a variety of products by Ranger . You’ll want to grab a cup of your favourite Christmas beverage and learn how to recreate my gift box at home. To start, you’ll need to choose a piece of patterned paper out of the Simple Vintage Rustic Christmas 6×8 Paper Pad from Simple Stories. Cut the patterned paper piece in two pieces that measure 4” x 4”. Distress the edges of the papers. Ink the edges of the papers using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam from Ranger Ink. Next, choose another piece of patterned paper out of the Simple Vintage Rustic Christmas 6×8…

Die cut one snowman from the Snowman Box Die; adhere scarf and snowman together. Apply embossing ink to snowman; apply Marshmallow Rock Candy to top; place carefully into melting pot. Turn melting pot on and allow embossing powder to melt. Repeat for scarf using Berry Mojito Rock Candy. (Allow embossing powder to cool before removing form melting pot.) Place Argyle Stencil on tag; apply Peacock Feathers Distress Ink to top. Apply Antique Linen Distress Ink to top of prepared tag.
