Hello everyone – Cathie Allan here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog playing with the Sunset pigment ink petal point collection from Clearsnap. Events …. I love events. I love watching everyone get together as friends to enjoy their hobbies, their passions. At a scrapbooking/papercrafting event the sharing of ideas is amazing. From the moment they unpack their tools and toys, sit down and begin creating the sharing begins. Everyone learns from each other and then there is the classes, the demos, the make’n takes that you can participate in to further the creative experience of the event at the Winnipeg, “Scrapchicks” gone wild event, I taught two classes and did a make’n take in the booth where I taught a fun background technique and they created a Christmas tag using that technique. As I teach, I create with them so I ended up with a “pile” of tags…

Stamping Shenanigans at the Carnival with Cathie Allan

That’s a wrap!! The Great Canadian Scrapbooking Carnivals are done for another wonderful year. For those of you that attended, I hope I got to meet you, greet you & or hug you. I know you ALL had an amazing time as the smiles were countless and the laughter sometimes deafening! I know you did some GREAT stamping and paper crafting because I saw the floor after you were all done !!! For those of you who did not make it …. MAKE IT NEXT YEAR!! You WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. For myself, I was busy sharing ideas and fun stamping & inking techniques the whole weekend, through classes and demos. HELLO SUMMER! Hey everyone, – Cathie Allan here – thought I would share with you a totally fun and easy card that you can create in the wee hours of the morning. Why? … in the “wee hours of the morning?” ….. well, because, it is May 23rd and it is behaving like summer outside so we NEED to spend “some” of our “crafting time” in our gardens and on our deck. I used totally “doable” stamping techniques to create a fun, shape card that “wanted to be a slider card”. The background was simply stamped using a wonderful solid, daisy stamp from Impression Obsession and two fabulous pigment colors from Clearsnap. Since it was pigment ink, I was able to stamp the darker, Antique Pewter images first and then stamp the lighter, Buttercup images on top of the dark color. Pigment ink allows me to do this and I…

YES …. my Cathie Allan Position-it has had an upgrade. I have loved my Position-it for many years. Loved that it was two tools in one. It was a tool that worked as a positioner, allowing you to place images “exactly” where you wanted them on your project AND allowed you to stamp an image, over and over and over again in exactly the same place thus opening up endless possibilities with my favourite art tools, my rubber stamps. Loved that it works on ALL sizes of paper. Loved that it worked with wood mounted rubber stamps, cling rubber stamps AND clear rubber stamps. Sounds amazing right … YES it was and YES …. it still IS but now …. it allows me to do even more. In essence … it simply makes stamping easier and even more “funner” (yes, I know that is not a word (yet) I like…

A Happy Valentines Day Stamp Story – by Cathie Allan

Once upon a time there was a beautiful stamp that cried out to be used on a project or “6” J. This “beautiful stamp” came from Impression Obsession and was one of their new releases at “CREATIVATION” which was held in Phoenix in January. This stamp, part of a “geranium series” from Impression Obsession decided to go home with Cathie and she set to work creating “something”. Not really knowing what the project would become, Cathie set about simply altering a piece of Creative Scrapbooker Super Stock with her new, stamp and the Poinsettia pigment petal point from Clearsnap. Even though the name of this particular stamp pad “screamed Christmas”, Cathie looked past it and simply saw it also was a great combination of colors for a geranium image. She partnered her stamp with her “Cathie Allan Position-it2”, which is 3 tools in one. This tool can be used with…
