Hi, Connie here today. This layout was inspired by the February sketch in the Canadian Scrapbooker It’s a Sketchy Challenge and the new Kaisercraft Shine Bright collection. The latter turned up in my mailbox as part of the latest Scrap Shotz monthly kit and the colours were so striking – bright yellow and black and gray – perfect for some older soccer photos in my collection. I knew I wanted to create a soccer ball to use as the circular element suggested by the February sketch and quickly realized that my Sizzix Eclips2 electronic die cutting machine could make that soccer ball an easy thing. I simply googled β€˜soccer svg’ and found a lovely free soccer ball cut file on the internet.Β Β  I imported the file into Ecal (the software used with the Eclips2) sized it appropriately and then cut it out on a couple of different colours…

One of my favourite things is truly a scrapbook layout about anything CANADIAN!Β  IΒ sincerely have a soft spot for this beautiful country I call home. Over the next few weeks I will be highlighting some layouts our design team created about their hometowns! I LOVE THEM ALL (Yep the layouts and the wonderful girls on my team)! Meet Desiree Saskiw DesireeΒ has been apart of Canadian Scrapbooker MagazineΒ for approximately 1 year asΒ one of our Guest Designers!Β  She does beautiful work that is always so well thought out and unique to all our page calls.Β  We LOVE Desiree’s creativitiy! Β  THANK YOU Desiree for sharing your work with us! Here is Desiree’s take on our page call “My Hometown”. It is about the small little block she lives on in Two Hills, Alberta. Hello Canadian Scrapbookers!!!!!!Β  It is my extreme pleasure to join you on this lovely Tuesday to share a little inspiration with you. If you know me at all from the magazine, you know me more as a writer than as a scrapbook designer, and true to my role with the magazine, I have some words to share that I hope will inspire you every bit as much as the scrapbook page that I will share with you! Here’s the thing. I have had a self-imposed creatively dry spring and summer and have not touched my scrapbook supplies since about January.Β  I am pleased to say some wonderful things have happened in that time. My family decided to build a new home and I pulled back from my work with the magazine to focus my energy there. I am a VERY messy scrapbooker and once we had our house listed I…

Chalkboard embellishments are all the rage right now and I love Core-dinations ColorCore cardstocks new Chalk Core Paper for making my own embellishments! I used Core’dinations Color Core cardstock, Spellbinders dies, Clearsnap Izinks, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Simple Stories stickers, Prima Marketing flowers, Xyron Sticker MakersΒ and Marvy gel pens. I cut out and embossed several shapes from the Chalk Core paper using my dies. To make it easier to sand the very fine cuts I first ran them through my Xyron sticker maker. Leaving the cut out on the backing I then sanded the embossed die cuts making them look like beautiful fine chalk work!! I then added them to my layout over a layer of Clearsnap Izinks. I added a very old, vintage photo of myself that I recently stumbled upon. Many people ask me what they should do differently with their older photos…my answer is nothing, do…
