In Canada, November 11 is Remembrance Day. It is a statutory holiday in most provinces and territories in order to commemorate members of the armed forces and to remember and honour those who have fought for our country and our freedom. It’s about respecting our past and thanking those that have served. I grow many poppies in my garden and they always make me think of the iconic war poem ‘In Flanders Field’ by John McRae. To add some subtle texture and interest to the piece of Bo Bunny Heritage patterned paper, I used a Bo Bunny stickable stencil and smeared a little molding paste through it with my finger. I’m getting all caught up with my Sketchy Challenges…it feels good! I love working with sketches, it takes the toughest part of scrapbooking out of the picture-the design! Once that part is dealt with the creative juices can flow. Here is our September Sketch, designed by Kelly Klapstein, that was the starting point for my page. For this layout I wanted to play with my newly purchased Nuance Pigment Powders from Magenta. It was the first time I played with them after hearing about them through Christy Riopel at our Edmonton carnival. Hello everyone let me introduce myself, I’m Nicole Wright. I’m new to the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine Team and I’m thrilled to be creating for you. I love all things vintage, grungy especially creating 3D Projects. I love using my collection of Sizzix dies so you’ll be seeing a lot of that from me. For my first project for Tuesday with the Team I decided to create something to honor Remembrance Day. I started with Sizzix Jumbo Tattered Floral for the Poppy creating 4 flowers for a full Poppy. Then I grabbed my Magenta Nuance Powders. This is my first time using them and WOW…a little goes a long way! Another month, another Sketchy Challenge! I stayed pretty true to Sue’s design, but still feel I made it my own! I decided to to pick my papers first and pictures last…not always the easiest starting point. I choose to create my layout using the BoBunny “Safari” collection. As I played with the patterns and sketch I remembered I had a few pictures kicking around from my teenage days in Germany. I choose to use one from school trip to the Berlin! My journalling is tucked behind the upper corner of my picture. I used two 3×4 journal cards included in the collection; folded in half.
