In Canada, November 11 is Remembrance Day.Β ItΒ is a statutory holiday in most provinces and territories in order to commemorate members of the armed forces and to remember and honour those who have fought for our country and our freedom.Β It’s about respecting our past and thanking those that have served.Β Β I grow many poppies in my garden and they always make me think of the iconic war poem ‘In Flanders Field’ by John McRae. To add some subtle texture and interest to the piece of Bo Bunny Heritage patterned paper, I used a Bo Bunny stickable stencil and smeared a little molding paste through it with my finger.Β I adore the way these stencils stick, even after repeated washings, so the molding paste ends up where it is supposed to.Β All the time.Β Β It can’t sneak under the stencil and make a mess. Β Then, I sprayed a…
I’m getting all caught up with my Sketchy Challenges…it feels good! I love working with sketches, it takes the toughest part of scrapbooking out of the picture-the design! Once that part is dealt with the creative juices can flow. Here is our September Sketch, designed by Kelly Klapstein, that was the starting point for my page. For this layout I wanted to play with my newly purchased Nuance Pigment Powders from Magenta. It was the first time I played with them after hearing about them through Christy Riopel at our Edmonton carnival. They are FUN to say the least and I look forward to using them more and learning other applications with them. I masked off three boxes and used the Nuance powders to colour them…I really should have used a small amount of Gesso on my cardstock, but I forgot…it’s a learning process! Had I used the Gesso my…
Hello everyone let me introduce myself, Iβm Nicole Wright. Iβm new to the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine Team and Iβm thrilled to be creating for you.Β I love all things vintage, grungy especially creating 3D Projects.Β I love using my collection of Sizzix dies so youβll be seeing a lot of that from me.Β For my first project for Tuesday with the Team I decided to create something to honor Remembrance Day. I started with Sizzix Jumbo Tattered Floral for the Poppy creating 4 flowers for a full Poppy. Then I grabbed my Magenta Nuance Powders.Β This is my first time using them and WOWβ¦a little goes a long way!Β Using a dry paint brush a couple flicks of powder onto watercolor paper and spritz with water. The Magenta Nuance give a bold vibrant look to this Poppy! I used my heat gun to dry the flowers.Β To create the…

Another month, another Sketchy Challenge! I stayed pretty true to Sue’s design, but still feel I made it my own! I decided to to pick my papers first and pictures last…not always the easiest starting point. I choose to create my layout using the BoBunny “Safari” collection. As I played with the patterns and sketch I remembered I had a few pictures kicking around from my teenage days in Germany. I choose to use one from school trip to the Berlin! My journalling is tucked behind the upper corner of my picture. I used two 3×4 journal cards included in the collection; folded in half. So I challenge you to go forth and create with this awesome sketch! Don’t forget to share on our Sketchy Gallery! Kim Gowdy
Kim Gowdy here with a simple page anyone can create. I don’t know about you but sometimes I headΒ to my craft room in hopes of being creative, turn on the T.V. for “company” and get pulled into whatever show happens to be on…making for some very unproductive creative time. If this sounds familiar…this page is for YOU! Adornit has come out with these fun Art Play Printables. 12 x 22 pages with fun images for you to colour, I am certain you find a few you can’t live without! The pages are made from sturdy, qualityΒ watercolour paper, so they will stand up easily to paint and markers. So here’s the Β trick…turn on the T.V. and colour! Relax, enjoy the program and be productive…your brain can design a layout [which takes more focus] later! For this layout I pulled out my ChameleonΒ pens and just had fun. They make it so easy…
