Hi, it’s Connie Nichol here today. I used the September sketch in the Canadian Scrapbooker Sketchy Challenge as a jumping off point for scrapbooking this childhood photo. I don’t have a lot of pictures from when I was a kid and virtually all of them are in 35 mm slide format, so I am slowly scanning, printing and scrapbooking them while my parents are still around to help me remember dates, places and people.
The layout doesn’t resemble the sketch much, but that’s the beauty of working with scrapbook sketches. It’s a place to start. And then once started, page elements can get moved around, added to or eliminated.
I have been working a lot lately with Close To My Heart products. They have some terrific stamps and I love the way the ink, cardstock and patterned paper coordinates. Makes everything so easy. This layout features the ‘Brushed’ patterned paper and stickers, which I think are retired now, but you could duplicate with any one of the paper lines that CTMH carries because all the patterns will go together nicely. While everything was out, I put together a quick card using some leftover Brushed patterned paper and a sentiment from the ‘Framed’ set. It was a stamp of the month from this past August.
