Hello there! Noreen from OrganizedandCreativeMom.com here! If you took a vacation over spring break or have travel plans for this coming summer, then you’ll want to get your hands on the new Travel Log Collection from Creative Memories! It features fabulous papers, die-cut embellishments, stickers, mat cards, and handy pocket embellishments all in versatile grays, beiges, reds, blues and peach/coral tones. And the icons, imagery, and patterns will work for tropical or urban destinations, as well as all forms of the land, sea or air travel! We went on a great family vacation earlier this spring and it was the first time my two boys had been on an airplane! They loved it and have now been bitten by the travel bug – the whole world of travel has just opened up for them! I took a photo of them on their inaugural flight and paired a cut-file I created using the globe image from the Travel Log Digital Kit with papers and embellishments from the physical collection to create this layout that commemorates their first flight!
To create the cut file, I uploaded the jpg image of the globe embellishment into Cricut Design Space, saved it as a cut file, set the image to 11.5” in height and cut it out of Bronze Shimmer Cardstock. (Tip: You can see a video on how to use images from Creative Memories Digital Art Kits to create cut-files with a Cricut electronic die-cutting machine on my YouTube channel at .) I backed the open circle of the globe with the beige world map paper and adhered it onto the black paper with small white planes. I like that the Bronze Shimmer cardstock gives the effect of a vintage metal globe stand! I mounted the photo onto white cardstock and added it along with a Variety Mat Card and a pocket embellishment with our “travel log” details tucked into it on top of the globe.
Then I had fun layering on the cute die-cuts and stickers, using Foam Squares to pop some up and off the surface of the page for a bit of dimension. I also trimmed one of the striped border stickers to add in several spots around the page to provide some repetition and continuity.
Finally, I punched a few planes using the new Airplane Punch to add to the embellishment clusters and positioned one of the planes “flying” across the globe to reach its final destination. So fun!
Here are a few close-up details… With lots of travel plans in our family’s future, I think the Travel Log Collection is going to get lots of use on my scrapbook layouts! Hope it fits in with YOUR travel plans!
