Hey Creative Scrapbooker Fans! Today, I’m excited to share with you how to create this Hello Friend Card using a variety of products from Lindy’s Gang, Stampers Anonymous, Penny Black, Ranger, Creative Scrapbooker Magazine‘s Super Stock, and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. Grab your favorite beverage and follow along to recreate this card!
Step 1: Prepare Your Watercolor Paper
Start by cutting a piece of Cotton Watercolor Paper from Ranger to 6”x6”. Emboss the paper using the Melody Embossing Folder from Penny Black, then trim it down to 4”x5 ¼”, ensuring the embossed music sheet remains visible. From the Lindy’s Gang collection- Alexandra’s Artist, sprinkle Karin’s Coral, Andrea’s Azalea and Martina’s Marigold pigment powders over the paper as desired. Lightly spritz with water and allow time for the paper to dry completely.
Step 2: Add Stamping and Ink Blending
Once the paper has dried, grab the circle stamp from the Deconstructed Stamp Set by Stampers Anonymous. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink from Ranger to the stamp and randomly stamp it on the paper seven times, re-inking as needed. Using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool from Ranger, ink the edges of your embossed paper.
Step 3: Create the Woodgrain Circle
Cut a circle using Super Stock from Creative Scrapbooker Magazine and the Woodgrain Circle Die from Penny Black. Blend Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide Ink onto the circle and spritz it with water. Once dry, ink the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink for added depth.
Step 5: Stamp and Color the Leaves
Using the Sketchy Leaves Stamp Set by Stampers Anonymous, stamp two leaves onto Distress Kraft Heavy Stock with Jet Black Archival Ink. Color the leaves with Distress Watercolor Pencils in Crackling Campfire, Fossilized Amber, Walnut Stain, Peeled Paint, and Spiced Marmalade from Ranger . Once dry, fussy cut the leaves and ink the edges with Walnut Stain Distress ink.
Step 5: Stamp the Sentiment
Using the Tiny Text Stamp Set from Stampers Anonymous, stamp the “Hello Friend” sentiment onto a strip of Cotton Watercolor Paper. Ink the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink to match the overall tone of the card.
Step 6: Assemble the Card
Cut a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” piece of Distress Kraft Heavy Stock and ink the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Use 3D Foam Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L to adhere the woodgrain circle about ¼” from the right edge and 5/8” from the bottom.
Add some copper thread on top of the circle, securing it with E-Z Runner from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. Attach the leaves and sentiment with 3D Foam Squares for added dimension.
Step 6: Final Assembly and Details
To complete the card, splatter Distress Spray Stain in Tarnished Brass from Ranger on the card front. Allow time for the splatter to dry. Cut a piece of Super Stock from Creative Scrapbooker Magazine to 4 ¼” x 11”, score at 5 ½”, and fold to create the card base. Attach the card front to the base using E-Z Runner.
Here are a few different angles of the card for you to see. Thank you for following along with my Hello Friend Card tutorial! I hope it inspires you to create your own version at home. You can find more of my projects on my blog at Katelyn Grosart.
