The one booth that is sure to make you smile at the tradeshow is Art Impressions. Their stamps have hilarious images and cute caricatures of people and animals that will brighten any card or project. And this year AI is celebrating 30 years in business!! 30 years of making people laugh and smile is a pretty good thing. Probably most well-known for their “Girlfriends” line of stamps, the booth was filled with cheerful, samples of cards that were beautifully coloured. Here are a couple of our personal faves: There are newly released “Get Well” themed stamps too: Valentine stamps and cards were also on display and are so sweet! Being asked to join Jackie at Ranger’s CHA media release was pretty exciting until my alarm went off so early that morning. Tired eyes were soon open with excitement at all the fabulous new releases being shared at Ranger’s booth. They had four stations set up, and we got to spend about 20 minutes at each one with Ranger’s Signature Designers; Tim Holtz, Dina Wakley, Dyan Reaveley and Susan Lenart Kazmer…pretty easy to get just a tad star struck! Each proved to be down to earth and all had a wonderful sense of humour…made you love them that much more! First up was Tim Holtz. The Chameleon Pens booth is like stepping into a world of magic because of the colourful demos with pens that have wonderful blending possibilities. There was a buzz of excitement because Chameleon Pens launched two new products at the show: Color Tops and Coloring Pencils. There is a Kickstarter campaign that you can join if you want to support this innovative product, and just head over to the Chameleon Pens website to learn more. The cool thing about Color Tops is you can now seamlessly blend COLOR TO COLOR! The Simple Stories booth is always a fun colourful place to visit. There were 4 new collections on display. Another Disney themed “Say Cheese III” carries on from the previous two lines with a similar colour palette and very popular embellishments, stickers, papers, die cuts, etc. Putting together a Disney album couldn’t be easier! Following the trend of faith-based products, the release of the aptly named “Faith” collection is sure to be well-received. The products from the “Faith” collection can be used for scrapbooking as well as Bible journaling and Off The Page projects. The next collection “Domestic Bliss” has really sweet patterns with a ‘Home Sweet Home’ theme and lends itself well to scrapbooking daily life and moments. Walking into the Impression Obsession booth at the Creativation Show is always such a treat. There are so many beautiful new stamps and dies, and a huge variety of cards and other projects showcasing these. Loads of colour and inspiration! We always love visiting our friends at the Clearsnap booth. Clearsnap makes the most amazing ink – whether it be dye, pigment, chalk, archival, Smooch or something else – and it all comes in luscious colours to create all kinds of inky masterpieces. Here’s a quick highlight of a couple of new Clearsnap products that debuted at the Creativation show. There was a lot of buzz about Clearsnap’s new product called Colorique by Lisa Marie Jiminez. This is a quick drying ink for metal, glass, clay, wood and ceramics that is perfect for jewelry designers and altered art. Colorique comes in 14 colours and comes with a clear coat to seal your work. It’s going to be a lot of fun to play with. Hey Creative Scrapbooker Fans! Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and although I don’t normally create a lot of projects for Valentine’s Day, I wanted to create a few special cards for those special people in my life. Using the Butterfly Kisses Collection from Bo Bunny, some chipboard pieces from Southern Ridge Trading Company and pairing them up with new quarry stones and embossing powder from Emerald Creek Craft Supplies as well as a variety of products from Ranger Ink, I was able to create this beautiful vintage “Love” card. Make sure to grab a cup of your favourite beverage as I show you how to create the elements on my card as well as inspire you to recreate this project in the comforts of your own home. Feeling Rusty by Kerry Engel This page looks like it should weigh about 3 pounds. But it doesn’t. Those gears – they are totally fake. What would take nature about 5 years to accomplish I created in roughly 20 minutes, with a little help from Pentart Rust Effects distributed by Bo Bunny The gears were cut using a Tim Holtz die cut from Sizzix. I covered them in Ranger black gesso and pressed the Rust Effect powder distributed by Bo Bunny into the wet gesso. Then I added the Rust Effect Reagent from Pentart distributed by Bo Bunny on top and brushed it around with an old paintbrush. Once dry I covered in the Pentart Varnish. I thought that would seal in the rust shavings. The gears remain pliable and very light weight. They look very realistic and give my page some lovely texture. I think I’ll do this on…
