Each and every issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine has a number of special features. They can range from being inspired by a famous painter or writer to simple every day things. Crockpots In the Fall 2015 issue we ran a feature on Crockpots. LOL! Yep we did. We asked our readers to send us pictures, projects, cards – whatever – as long as it was inspired by their crockpots. I will never forget how excited Christy Riopel was for her very first Art Show. For weeks she created canvases filled with her fun loving mixed media style. So many of the techniques she practiced and taught in her art journals showed up on her one of kind canvases. I smile when I think of her creating in her studio. My daughter and I drove all the way to Calgary (a five hour drive) to attend. I am so grateful that I did. She didn’t know I was coming – the look on her face was PRICELESS when she saw me walk in. From elephants to pandas to ballet slippers her booth was filled with her beautiful creations. I had a very hard time deciding what to purchase. After a few cups of coffee I decided on a HUGE mixed media canvas of an elephant. This beautiful piece will forever…

Over the years we have shared so many wonderful memories with Christy Riopel whether it be scrapbooking, touring a city, giggling over a tasty meal or simply enjoying the love we all share of ART. Of all these memories I am most grateful for our TV Show – Technique Tasters that we filmed together in Calgary. After a few years of doing the show we finally convinced Christy to join us and share her creative soul with our online community. I am so glad she said YES! In a very short time we filmed SIX shows – and had soooo many more planned for the future. We have – forever – in our memory boxes these videos of her laughing, creating and teaching us. A look back to Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Spring 2015. Christy Riopel designed this layout – Friendships are Stitched – featuring Graphic 45 patterned paper. I absolutely love how she created the title, stitching the letters and then highlighting them with a charcoal pencil. Gorgeous.
