For those of you new to our blog I would like to welcome you to our regular feature – #RememberingChristy. One and half years ago our dear friend and work colleague, Christy Riopel passed suddenly away. Christy was a huge part of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine for close to 8 years and will forever be apart of our creative souls. On saturdays we celebrate Christy by sharing a project or two that Christy created. Our creative jar filled with her designs is literally endless ๐Ÿ™‚ This week we are looking back to the Summer 2015 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine. In this issue Christyย designed layouts for her regular Tool Junkie Article, featuring embellishments she created out of polymer clay. Here is one of the creations. Using Polymer Clay to Make Tile Embellishments 1. Brush the embossing folder with cornstarch to keep the clay from sticking. 2. Knead the polymer clay until…

Hi everyone, Cathie Allan here on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog, with a few, bright, spring projects. SPRING is just around the corner and with the days getting longer , the sun shining brighter I just NEEDED to play with some fun bright colors from Clearsnap and some โ€œspring likeโ€ images from Stampendous. I did not know what I wanted to create so I created 3 projects thinking I would share with you my favorite. Well โ€ฆ I could not decide which one was โ€œmy favoriteโ€ so I am sharing all 3 projects with you. I have photographed each project separately and posted those photos at the end of this blog.It all began with these rubber stamp images from Stampendous, plus a gorgeous new metal stencil.Media of choice was my Pinwheel Petal Point and re-inkers from Clearsnap, my ColorBox stylus and foam tips and a ColorBox black pigment stamp pad…

Hello everyone Jayme Loge here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. I am now the mother of a fourteen-year-old girl. She is feisty and brilliant and amazing and she is going to do wonderful things in this world. She is evolving before my eyes and it is exciting to see her discover her strengths, make mistakes and make choices about whom she is going to be. Itโ€™s lovely, and completely unbalancing. Some days she changes faster than I can keep up with and then when I think I can stretch no further, she relaxes and cocoons herself in the safety of home. I take a break from this dance by looking back at old photos and remembering all the little details of who she is and where she has come from. Itโ€™s funny the traits that donโ€™t change. Her hands-on approach is one of them. She loved wearing โ€˜twirlyโ€™…

As I went through all the blog posts that Christy Riopel supplied Creative Scrapbooker Magazine over the years, I was once again AWE-STRUCKย  by how incredibly talented Christy was. Often you can look at a layout or project andย  say “That was created 10 or 15 years ago” based on the style or design of the layout. That just isn’t the case with Christy’s designs. They are timeless creations that look like they could have been created yesturday. Like this layout Christy created almost 10 years ago featuring chipboard gears from FabScraps. This week I am sharing with you the extact blog post Christy shared with us – TEN YEARS AGO! Amazing! Christy Riopel’s Blog Post Using Christmas Ornaments as Embellishments by Christy Riopel With all the stores stocking up Christmas ornaments I often keep my eye out for themed ornaments that are flat enough and super fun to use as…

Hello! Kim here today on a cold and wintery Alberta day! Today we are going to take a look at a scrapbooking company that has been near and dear to our hearts, for many years! We will shine our CSM Scrapbook Spotlight on Creative Memories! The New Creative Memories The new Creative Memories story begins in November of 2014 under the new ownership of Caleb Hayhoe. Calebโ€™s connection to Creative Memories however, started back in 1997 when his company was bringing scrapbooking ย innovations to the Creative Memory team of that time. As the new owner, Caleb has brought a fresh perspective to the company we have become familiar with for many years. New scrapbook products are being introduced monthly, insuring that your projects can be fresh and current. With all these new collections, certain products remain part of the core line. Creative Memories has many best-selling items that continue…

Ever wonder what the heck texture paste, gesso and all those other mediums are and what they are used for? Way back in the Summer 2016 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine we asked Christy Riopel to do a feature article called “Mad for Mediums” to answer these very questions. In this article, Christy played with and explained the various uses of the different kinds of gesso and texture paste. Her projects included techniques using a variety of different types of gesso with everyday scrapbooking supplies likeย  stencils, recycled magazines, distress spray, dies and so much more. She had so much that she wanted to share with everyone that we ended up dividingย  the article into a TWO part series. Part one can be found in the Summer 2016 issue and Part two can be found in the Fall 2016 issue. Coloring Texture Paste One of my favourite techniques that Christy…

Sewing on your paper crafting projects, without a doubt, adds an instant homemade feel to just about anything. Over the years we have encouraged our readers in a number of different articles and features within Creative Scrapbooker Magazine to dust off their sewing machines and to not be afraid to add sewing to their next project. Fall 2012 Issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine In theย Fall 2012 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine our Frugal Scrapbooker – Connie Nichol – wrote an article entitled “Put a Hole In It”. This article touched not only on adding machine sewing to your scrapbook projects – but to not be afraid to add faux stitching or to simply add holes in a decorative way using a basic hole punch to create fun designs. Connie always finds a way to add embellishments to your projects for pennies!ย  She truly is our #1 Frugal Scrapbooker! Christy Riopel’s…

Hello crafty friends, Tracy McLennon here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. I am playing with the FabScraps Mother Earth collection of patterned papers perfect for heritage themed layouts.ย  ย I have a little vintage scrappy inspiration for you. I have a love for my collection of heritage family photos. I am lucky to have had access to huge photo collection from both sides of my family. So I have scanned, printed and archived many of them. So today I am sharing a layout that I created using a photo of my grandmother (left) and her 2 sisters. I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting any of these beautiful, strong women. But I can create and share their legacy. FabScraps Mother Earth Collection This collection from FabScraps is the perfect pairing with heritage photos. I created a patchwork of pattern behind my photo. Simple squares of multiple patterns, make a…
