Do you ever find yourself playing with product, not knowing what will come of it and finish with a fun project! This was the case with this coffee card! I started by playing with some Ranger Distress Oxide Inks, masking off the outside border. Once the colours were placed I used this fun Pam Bray stamp from Emerald Creek to stamp over the coloured centre. Next I masked away the centre, so that I could use the same stamp around the border! Fun & simple! This was the perfect background for a fun, chipboard coffee cup from Southern Ridge Trading Company. The chipboard piece was embossed with Emerald Creek’s Just Java Aroma Embossing Powder – smells as good as it looks! I outlined the words of the chipboard cup with a Ranger  Dylusions’ paint pen and added some ‘steam’ with a Distress Marker. Coffee cheers to you!

Hey crafters… have you ever wanted to make your own stencils?  Nicole here on the blog today showing you how I saw a design I liked and then proceed to create stencils of my own.  Brother ScanNCut2 CM650W comes pre-loaded with so many designs for cutting anything you can think of.  I decided to see how cutting a stencil would work with my Mixed Media Art Journal.  I’ll show you what I learned.  I started by loading a small piece of Mylar I had in my scrap bin.  Adhere to the 12x 12 low tack mat and load into the machine.  Select Pattern, select the loaded design and then adjust your size of cut to the size of material you have cut.  I have selected the word Spring and 2 floral designs to cut. You can move your cut anywhere on your cutting mat.  The grid pattern helps you not waste…

I have a problem. I might need help, an addiction you might say…I LOVE all things Ranger, nothing Ranger is boring…it’s ALL super fun and lets my creativity flow! I sat down to make a quick card for this blog post, I pulled out some inks and stamps, but couldn’t stick with one Ranger designer, so I kept pulling out product from 4 designers! Check out all this yumminess…Distress Oxides, Dylusions paint pens, Distress Spray, Dina Wakley stamps, Scribble Sticks, Wendy Vecchi embossing powder and my Dylusions Journal Block. All of these fabulous supplies worked harmoniously to create my card. I doodled, traced, embossed and just had FUN! Not once did I overthink the process, and I love the finished card! What are your favourite Ranger products? Do you honestly have just one? We are thrilled to have Ranger as one of Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival sponsors. We hope to…

Anyone up for a bright summery project today?  Hello friends Nicole Wright here today sharing a detailed tutorial on this Painted Burlap Canvas.  You may have seen this in the current issue of the magazine.  I thought I would share a more detailed tutorial using Dylusions Paints.  These bright acrylic paints add a bold look to any project. Apply Ranger’s Dylusions Paint directly to Super Stock Card Stock using a sponge covering your paper.  I used a baby whip to smear around the Dylusions Paint.  Blot some Tangerine Dream randomly.  Then layer your stencil and using a sponge add Dylusions Paint Fresh Lime.  Repeat this using random colours and stencils for your all your floral die cuts. Yes, you can ink on Burlap with Dylusions Paints.  Add random colours of Dylusions Paints using a sponge.  Layer any stencil you want and use your sponge to ink through your stencil.  Move your…

Each and every week, we look back in time and remember the beautiful art of our late friend and colleague Christy Riopel. Christy’s designs are timeless. So many of her creations from way back when continue to inspire us today. This week we are looking back to the Fall 2016 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine.  Christy wrote a two-part feature article on using a variety of different types of mediums. The article was appropriately called Mad for Mediums as Christy rarely created a project without adding some kind of ooey gooey goodness! Here is one of the many projects that Christy designed featuring gesso. Gesso Resist Because gesso is a sealant, mediums will react differently on top of it then they will on paper. You can use this to your advantage by using it to create a soft resist. I call it a soft resist because it may retain a bit of…

Hey Creative Scrapbooker Fans! Katelyn Grosart back on the blog today to share with you a fun art journal page. Summer has arrived and the inspiration for my project definitely came from all the bright colours that come with summer. The jumping off point for my project was the Small Patterns & Forever & Always collections from Wild Whisper Designs which combined with a variety of mediums and art journal from Ranger Ink, stencils from Stampers Anonymous, a die from Elizabeth Craft Designs and adhesive from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, I was able to create my fun I Have an Entire Forest Art, Journal Page. You’ll want to grab a cup of your favourite beverage as I share with you how I created my page. For the background of my art journal pages, I put a base coat of White Gesso from Ranger Ink on the pages. With the gesso…

Happy Monday everyone. Nicole Wright here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. Are you excited to make a mess.  I know I am.  This is my first time using Dylusions Paint on a canvas.  I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel here, but maybe you have been thinking of trying these paints.  Or perhaps you haven’t cracked one open in sometime.  Follow along as I learn how to use these paints… and get ready to make a mess!  I am stretching out with these new to me paints and I have to say… what have I been waiting for. I’ll admit I have been intimidated but wow these are amazing. I cut up some make up sponges to apply the paint to the canvas and get your fingers in there!Smearing around with your fingers helps blend and smooth the paint. These paints dry fairly quickly so it’s easy to…

Hi everyone.  Karen Ellis here.   Today is my day on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog to share with you something that I’ve been working on.This weekend my mind, like so many of us, was on Hurricane Irma and the disaster she left  in her wake in the Caribbean and the state of Florida.  As a survivor of a natural disaster myself (lost my home in a F4 tornado), I know what it is like to lose everything (including friends and neighbours) and what it means to rebuild.  I know you all will join me in wishing the survivors the very best, a fast recovery and a quick rebuild from the devastation of Hurricane Irma. While watching the news coverage, I took to my studio and opened to an unfinished page in my art journal and created this layout I’m sharing with you today.  I enjoy going to my journal when…

Some of you may think it’s silly to do a CSM Spotlight on Ranger Ink, after all ‘everyone’ knows who they are and what they do. While those of us who have been stamping, playing with mixed media or who have worked in the industry for some time, no doubt know who Ranger Ink is, we really do want to introduce these wonderful products to crafters of ALL levels! First up a little history. Ranger Ink was founded in 1929!!! I did the math…that’s 88 years in the INK industry…that’s a whole lot of homework backing their amazing products! Initially they manufactured commercial inks used in the banking industry. In 1979 they developed the first art stamp pads, and began doing private labels for stamp manufacturers in 1998. Since then they have grown to successfully market their own quality products that we have come to love! Products such as Distress…

Being asked to join Jackie at Ranger’s CHA media release was pretty exciting until my alarm went off so early that morning. Tired eyes were soon open with excitement at all the fabulous new releases being shared at Ranger’s booth. They had four stations set up, and we got to spend about 20 minutes at each one with Ranger’s Signature Designers; Tim Holtz, Dina Wakley, Dyan Reaveley and Susan Lenart Kazmer…pretty easy to get just a tad star struck! Each proved to be down to earth and all had a wonderful sense of humour…made you love them that much more! First up was Tim Holtz. Lots of buzz at his table with the release of his Oxide Ink Pads, new Distress Crayons sets, Crayon Tin storage, 1 oz. size of Collage Medium, storage jars and Woodgrain Cardstock. The new Oxide Ink Pads are the next generation of Distress Inks, combining…
