Hello crafty friends, Tracy McLennon here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. I am playing with the FabScraps Mother Earth collection of patterned papers perfect for heritage themed layouts.ย  ย I have a little vintage scrappy inspiration for you. I have a love for my collection of heritage family photos. I am lucky to have had access to huge photo collection from both sides of my family. So I have scanned, printed and archived many of them. So today I am sharing a layout that I created using a photo of my grandmother (left) and her 2 sisters. I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting any of these beautiful, strong women. But I can create and share their legacy. FabScraps Mother Earth Collection This collection from FabScraps is the perfect pairing with heritage photos. I created a patchwork of pattern behind my photo. Simple squares of multiple patterns, make a…

Christy Riopel designed the following layout featuring FabScraps for the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog approximately 4 years ago. The line of patterned paper and chipboard from FabScraps no longer exists however the beauty of the design is timeless. The Blog Post The copy for the blog post that Christy wrote was very short and to the point….exactly like Christy. There was nothing complicated about her teachings and her designs. Here is the post …. as written in her words…. “I wanted my layout to hint towards the military nature of the Museum so I cut pennant flags from FabScraps patterned paper and arranged them like a soldiers medals. I curled the paper with my fingers to add dimension to the page. I used Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D foam squares to attach the flags so they would stand up from the page.” Christy Riopel Giggle Giggle – like I said…

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a scrapbook layout featuring papers from the FabScrapsย  collection called Mother Earth. I just love the gentle colours and the beautiful botanical images on these papers. ย I was totally inspired by the Berry Bliss sheet of patterned paper to scrapbook my love for raspberry freezer jam. ย We eat a lot of it in my house and I make jam all year round. ย Once I discovered freezer jam, I never went back to cooked jam. ย It just tastes a thousand times better and is so quick to make. FabScraps Mother Earth Patterned paper Here’s a few images of the paper in this FabScraps collection. ย Gorgeous. ย  I like to fussy cut some of the images out and use these as extra embellishments to accent the page. ย I also used a sheet of finely corrugated cardboard that I had rescued out of a recycle bin a…

Hey Creative Scrapbooker Fans! Today I thought I would switch things up a bit from what I normally create and create some tags that you could use for any occasion.ย Using the beautiful Lavender Breeze Collection fromย FabScraps, a few fabulous chipboard pieces and flowers fromย Southern Ridge Trading Company, wonderful stones and embossing powder from Emerald Creek Craft Supplies and a variety of products fromย Ranger, I was able to create these beautiful Any Occasion Tags. Make sure to grab a cup of your favourite beverage, as I show you how to recreate my tags in the comfort of your own home. To start, pull out two #8 Manilla Craft Tags from Ranger. With your tags out, youโ€™ll need the Memory Lane and Simplicity patterned paper from FabScraps. Trace one tag on the Memory Lane patterned paper and trace the other tag on the Simplicity patterned paper. Make sure to also mark…

April Sketchy Challenge Blog Post 3-in-1 challenge. Happy April everyone! Kerry Engel here. ย I thought this month we could talk about design principles. Iโ€™ve always been a disciple of the CRAP Method of designing: Contrast, Repetition, Alignment and Proximity. These are the four principles that dictate pretty much everything I create. Hereโ€™s how Iโ€™ve used these principles in the April sketch: Contrast is created through the placement of the photo strip on the left and the white space on the right. Repetition is expressed through the repeating of the circle motif and the rectangular shapes in the photos and journaling blocks. Alignment is achieved by keeping all the spaces between the elements a similar distance apart. Proximity is attained by keeping โ€œlikeโ€ elements close and tight. The journaling is kept together (in one area) and isnโ€™t spread all over and the photos are kept collected in one area too. This…

This week we will be featuring a blog post Christy created for us 3 years ago. When to stop and when not to? by Christy Riopel January always makes me a little introspective and I tend to scrapbook more interpersonal stuff this time of year. I created this layout about dealing with the old(er) girl in the mirror these days. SUPPLIES: FabScraps pattened paper and chipboard, Aladine Izink inksย distributed byย Clearsnap, May Arts ribbon, Impression Obsession stamps, ColorBox Surfacez ink by Clearsnap, Spellbinders dies and Grand Calibur die cutting machine, Dymo Label Maker, Ranger Industries gel pen, Beacon Adhesives. It ended up being an exploration in not just one hard question ( when did I get this old?) but in another unrelated question I often faceโ€ฆ.. When do I stop? When is enough on a layout? Here is a picture of what It looked like when I first thought it was…

Welcome to the shabby chic world of the FabScraps booth! It’s hard not to “oooooh” and “aaaaah” at everything on display. There areย 5 new collections that are so beautiful! Stickers, chipboard, stencils, charms and die cuts accompany each line. The first is called “Lavender Breeze” and it is so lovely with a colour palette of soft purples and white washed wood patterns. “For the Love of Tea” is a collection that has my heart leaping for joy! For those beach vacations and summer time projects, “Summer Loving” is a wonderful new collection with a coral, mint green colour palette and images of flip flops, starfish and shells. “Woodland’s Friends” is a playful, nature themed collection well-suited for children, with a fresh purple, limeย and teal colour palette. The final new collection “Call From the Wild” ย is designed especially to celebrate theย animal species in South Africa, the home of FabScraps.…
